sup /ck/

what are some chopstick friendly foods that will keep in my daughter's bento box until she eats it at lunch time? She just started kindergarten and we got her a bento box and a pair of kid's chopsticks to learn with.

authenticity, while nice, is not required.

>> No.4822338

Basically as long as you're not giving her soup or something that needs to be cut with a sharp knife, she should be able to handle it with chopsticks. That includes grilled fish and tofu, neither of which should require a knife.

So basically if you're giving her a chicken breast or a pork tenderloin, cut it up first, otherwise it's all good.

I'm thinking wheat thins, chicken nuggets, and gummy bears. Should be easy to learn with those

What is 'authentic' to you?

>sending your kid to school with gummy bears for lunch

In 18 years that poor kid is going to be posting on /ck/ asking for recipe verticals.

Someone should call child protective services.

Im looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)

Op, I can sympathize with the fear that your daughter will turn out to be that sad sack in college who gets frustrated and humiliated when chopsticks are involved at a meal and everyone else at the table has to work overtime to avoid turning it into a full blown emotional breakdown/onset of a social anxiety condition/NEET sociopath who has no friends and posts angry rants about Asian marketing conspiracies on /ck/ as a full time job, but at the same time, this might be a little early if she is going to be eating with a bunch of people who aren't using chopsticks.

I didn't pick up chopsticks until I was maybe 7 or 8 when my family moved to Japan, and it didn't take long to pick up. I'd give her some room and teach her at home, it's better that way.

OP, think of the shit your child will receive from the other kids.
Do you really want her to have chopstick skills at the price of being happy with other kids her age?
