When I draw monsters I always imitate the sounds they would make as I draw.
Sounds like bullshit but it's a real game changer, it gives them expressions that I would never be able to draw otherwise.

nah that's a technique professional animators and comic artists use to shape human mouths, makes sense it'd help form animal expressions too. so good call!

"Feeling" something tells me nothing about how to draw it. Neither does looking at it or sculpting it. I can't figure out any way to make a subject suggest to me how it might be depicted using lines on a page.

>> No.7187285

focus on the areas of clothes which are pressed against the skin, this is just the same as seeing her form.
so I mean her breasts, waist, ribs/back, hips/pelvis, ass, and very upper thigh.
if these aren't enough to guide you then I suggest you study the skeleton more!
you cannot see her legs, but you can infer their position by understanding proportion and her center of gravity

It was a nightmare getting all those characters to interact. I had to draw the scene three times to figure everything out.

In answer to your question, there's nothing really terrible about this character sheet, I think you just need stronger understanding of anatomy and musculature, because he seems rather flat and stuff at the moment.

Color exists in relation to other colors, so relatively dull colors can look vibrant when contrasting with opposite colors or against darker values. The black in this image is doing a lot of heavy lifting, if it were against a white background, it would look more dull.

Avoid the "superhero pose" western style animation uses. And that western fucking smug expression as well.
Anime uses that tired pose, hunched down shoulders, you know like waiting in line pose, unready for action, like people in real life. That's what anime does. Well at least since the 2000's onward it does.

Back in the december, I tried to draw a girl that i really like. i've never had an experience of drawing before, but for some reason wanted to draw her. Recently i've found out she also likes me. This now holds special place in my heart, but i also feel like it genuinely look kinda dope

I've been wondering how animators and mangaka learned to draw back so well when figure drawing was something you pretty much had to do in person. There were a few books of poses here and there, but nothing as extensive as what we have available today. Now there is a practically unlimited amount of study-material on the internet in the form of videos, movies, porn, you name it. It's impossible not to run into the nude human figure performing any sort of action or pose.
Consequently, the (perceived) skill level of doujinshi artists has risen slowly thanks to the amount of reference material to draw from.

Were the (good) artists back then all art students who had access to a regular figure drawing class?

The internet didn't invent looking at people. Or photos. Or reference packs.
