There's no surface like the Intuos 3 because it gets worn too fast, while the Intuos 4 surface is very rough new and you'll get through a set of nibs, the surface lasts a really long time and won't get pits, just light scratches.
I don't know anyone buying the Intuos 3, must be a youtube gimmick or a shill that's trying to get rid of their old tablets.

This is literally well poisoning. One of biggest thing about intuos 3 was how smooth and slippery the surface was. It allowed to work really fast with fast strokes without worrying of scratching. Some people liked it. Other disliked. But everyone agreeded it was in fact smooth and that was what made it really nib friendly. Basically they lasted forever. The included sets of nibs would probably outlived you.

It was a common complaint on the forums back then like conceptart.org, people asking how they can patch up the surface. People suggested super glue or nail varnish.
The surface is the same of the Intuos 1 and 2, I posted the photos of my old Intuos 3 before, with the issues I already mentioned.
The Intuos 3 pen is also great if you like to get carpel syndrome, nothing is better than the Pro Pen.

I've got an old wacom cintiq pro and a pro pen 2. I'm just learning how to draw and I have krita as my program of choice. Is it normal for the screen to look kind of low res and fuzzy? I'm just practicing linework so it could be that, but I wanted to know if there is some issue with these tablets that require further tweaking to get the most out of them.

I want to invest in a drawing tablet for the main purpose of drawing artwork for some children’s books I have ideas for.

I am more than technically literate and have been drawing off and on since young childhood, never really stopped completely I guess, but I have never purchased a drawing tablet or used anything other than pencil and paper. I have some minor experience with corel draw and gymp and layers and stuff but am pretty much a novice in terms of adeptness with “art apps” or whatever you call them (graphic design applications?).

I would like something that can do end-to-end work for my children’s books and be as comfortable and workable in my hand as a pencil as much as possible. So I'm heavily considering pulling the trigger on xp-pen's artist pro 14 gen 2 to replace my screenless intuos since I just hate drawing with a screenless and seems to have everything I'd want (pen with eraser button, not super expensive, not too big, built in stand but will probably get a parblo or something later on)

However wanted to get some other opinions, worth it? Should I go with the 16 inch model over the 14 inch? Other brands that would be better? I hear 2K is a meme if it's below 20 inches

Dave Rapoza only started using the 32 Pro because clients were complaining about the colors and line fidelity (intuos is solid but has limitations). Sinix famously switched to a 27pro when those were launched because he literally couldn't afford health insurance being freelance. This is not a game. Studio's will NOT HIRE YOU if you're not using this tech. It speeds up the pipe line and to edit the images in post it's easier manipulate the meta data when the strokes were made with something natural like a cintiq or an ipad. These shit ass Yuan tablets are a race to the bottom.

Second webm is from yt review of huion 16 2021. Don't remember author name but it was on first page of Google search. I searched for this tablet because I was actually interested in buying one. Still am but now I'll make sure to buy from place where I can return if it's that bad. I have had a xp pen 22pro for a couple of years, never experienced any problems, I tried a cintiq at a convention and sure, the sensitivity is better and the colors are slightly better, but it also costs much more and I don't think it's worth the price.
