Not using the shill's early thread.

Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

Do not read anything into pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
If you have any additional questions, ask them.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9"
Large (22"+): Wacom Cintiq 22, Cintiq Pro 27 - Make sure they have VESA standard mounting holes.

>Avoid:
XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations.
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 8 years, nothing has really changed. Consider reading the amazon reviews, particularly the negative spectrum and you will find some very common themes.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. Someone in the /csg/ general on /g/ once got an email from Gearbest asking him to post positively about them on the "csg chinkshit general thread" on 4chan's /g/ board. You will very likely see dozens upon dozens of aggressive, insult-laden posts in this thread; always assume they're from a marketing department.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

Hi, so I dug out my old bamboo spark I used a fair bit during college/doodling. The spark pen itself still works, and the remaining refills I have still work, but whats online is well..like 4-5 dollars a refill so pricey in the long term. I was wondering if people know what tech specs i should be looking for, if there are any alternative tips out there for the bamboo Spark ?

Websites say the Spark's panel is Wacom's EMR , and the tips have some copper coating , so I wondered if there are tips somewhere out there which people have tried and worked on this legacy device.

I believe the refill size is a D1

Where can I buy the Airbrush pen in the USA?

I have a PTH-660 (Intuos Pro Medium), and i'd like to get the airbrush pen (KP-400E-01), as I think the extra control options would really help me with photo editing. I can't find this for sale anywhere in the US. Google says it's out of stock everywhere. I tried ordering through Wacom in Europe, they have it in stock, but no option to mail to the US. Has anyone seen it for sale, new, from a US company?

I'm hunting ebay for it, but the only ones i've found is from Germany or Italy. Found it on a suspicious site, but the pricing was extremely low, so I think its a scam site. Has it been completely removed from the US market for some reason? Thanks for any info!

No screenless is better for back posture and being able to see where you're drawing without your pen being in the way.

In trad you can use overhand grip, drumstick grip etc to actually see as you're sketching. This luxury does not exist on display tablets where you're forced to use tripod.

I know that many tattoo artists use Sensi-Wrap (self adhesive bandage) wrapped around their pen/stylus to simulate a thicker grip like a tattoo machine. It is also much better posture-wise to draw from the shoulder, as opposed to "scratching" with the wrist, it's a common excercise as well to wrap a ruler around forearm and prevent wrist from bending. Drawing without the wrist, and using a very thick grip will help you not only to practice consistent straight lines pushing or pulling, but will prevent carpal tunnel. I've seen people even do a very thick sensi-wrap grip on their apple pencils. Like picrel but maybe twice as thick.

Screenless tablets are always gonna take some getting used to.
At the same time, the tablet might be mapping the entire drawing area to your monitor(s). If it was anything like my Intuos S, by default it mapped the entire drawing tablet surface to both my monitors. The driver software let me map the surface to only one monitor, and also constrain the drawing area so that the active area was the same aspect ratio as my monitor, meaning moving up and down would move the cursor the same length as moving left and right.

Anyone tried XP pen 16 2nd gen? In my country it's still unavailable until 15th next month, but I saw reviews like 2 weeks ago, so I don't know if Youtubers got it early or I live in extreme shit hole.
Anyway I'm interested because it's 16:10 aspect ratio. All monitors I own are that ratio an i find working on them much easier than 16:9
There is etched glass, and 2.5k resolution. Sounds and looks really good. The one and only thing I'm worried was little bit of wobble in those yt reviews. But all of those yt people said it's not really bad.
And now I'm lost again. Was already decided on 16 inch huion, but this 16:10 XP pen looks much better. I never owned screen tablet. This is going to my my first, should I be worried about this wobble or its one of the things you forget it exist after getting used to it?

Using the whole arm, the movement coming from the shoulder rather than "chicken-scratching" and drawing from the wrist. Practicing & being able to draw consistent lines pushing/pulling in diff directions. Not getting carpal tunnel (!!!) It's really for practicing tattooing, designing stencils, tattoo artists make their living via the permanence of their drawings, and henceforth their reputation as an artist, every piece is extremely important, make-or-break. Inherited an Intuos 5, medium size.
What portion of the screen do you (personally) select for your tablet? Do you only have it capture part of the screen or do you just make your canvas the entire monitor?

Right now I have it to use the entire monitor with only a portion being the canvas but its been a janky piece of shit and worse than drawing with my mouse.

I have a CTH-470, while it still does work, I have gripes that since CTL-x90 they removed the eraser end of the pen.
Considering that your entry choices are $50 vs $200, I would get the $50 tablet. If it was a smaller price gap then I would have gotten the larger tablet. You also want to consider your monitor size, if you're drawing from laptop (and not using a second monitor) then the CTL-4x would work fine, I would be hesitant on using it with a ≥ 22" monitor.

You can probably avoid the tablet surface issue in >>6857049 by getting a surface cover or having paper between your nib and tablet.

If you are looking for used iPads, you probably would find it cheapest if a school is clearing out old equipment.

Pressure levels don't dictate how smooth a line is you idiot. There is zero perceptible difference. 20 year old Wacoms have better pressure response and consistency than your 8192 garbage Huions, which still can't register quick hatching strokes properly.

Anyone here who disassembled their Intuos 3 stylus? Mine decided to die after 12 years of usage. Here are it's symptoms and what I did:

>the pen is rattling on the inside indicating something is loose
>pointer tip becomes wobbly and clicks on it's own from time to time even tho I'm not pushing the tip on the tablet.
>have everything disabled even the side switches, scroll strip, stylus side buttons etc.
>unplug and replugged the cable
>updated the drivers to the most current one available
>repeatedly remove and insert the nibs
>used it on another computer

It's still the same, any advices on how to fix it are much appreciated.

wacumguzzler is claiming Soejima has used the same intuos 3 for many hours every day for 15 years (we went back to 2021 btw), and it's still pristine. So yes, he's claiming it doesn't wear at all. Even being conservative and saying "many hours" = 3, that's still over 10,000 hours of use.

1) Soejima only does initial character design, most of the art you see in game isn't his.
2) A majority of his drawing is done with pen and paper, he only does digital for the final design.
3) There's no reason to believe that it's the same intuos 3 from when he first got it.

You remove the button and the rubber grip then twist and pull and hope the plastics come out easy, if it's not opening easy then it's never gonna work out, I ended up making a small cut with a scalpel to ease up the pressure on the Intuos 1 pen so that it popped, the pressure on the plastics is really strong and it's almost impossible to open, on some cases, others the pens open easy. I think I ended up removing the eraser nib and soldering on the tip but both the eraser and the tip work, it was still the same design, only the PCB was different.

I'm conflicted on whether to buy the 3 set of preowned Wacom Intuos 2 tablets (seller says it only have 2 pens and 1 mouse), which looks a bit worned down and recently cleaned or buy a brand new Huion or other chink brand drawing tablet. Both of which are 40 to 50 bucks in total plus shipping. I can't clearly decide anons, which do you think is the better deal of the two?

>> No.6884157

more tablets is obviously better, you can draw faster if you have 3 intuos 2s than if you only have 1 huion.

>> No.6884167

I would not buy anything older than Intuos 4 and even that is case by case, the overlays can't be replaced as they don't sell them anymore, you'll be drawing on scratches and pits in the case of the Intuos 2 which uses the old slick overlay that Intuos 3 also has.

>> No.6884190

>>6884167
I see so the surface of the Intuos 2 is vastly different. My intuos 3 died yesterday, so I'm searching on for a new tablet I can use for my freelance work. In my case here in SE Asia, the Intuos 3 tablets are really rare and ridiculouly pricey even preowned it's still the same price as buying a new one. Oddly enough it's easier to buy the overlays compared to the tablet itself.

Honestly I prefer Wacoms products over other brands since I've been using them for years. But lately their products are getting pricey here each month due to inflation. A small entry Wacom tablet here (like the Bamboo etc.) costs almost 60 to 100 dollars brand new, compared to the chink branded ones. It's hard to find a reasonable bargain here. Also, thanks for the insight about the Intuos 2 I appreciate that.
