Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

Do not read anything into pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
If you have any additional questions, ask them.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 1-5
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22HD, Cintiq Pro 27 - Make sure they have VESA standard mounting holes.

Avoid:

>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 8 years, nothing has changed. Consider reading the amazon reviews, particularly the negative spectrum and you will find some very common themes.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

>New iPads
Massively overpriced and overhyped.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

screen tablets are overcomplicating drawing. you shouldn't be thinking about UI or rotating your stylus, buttons, etc. just draw on paper and then scan and clean up, edit, color with a screenless. that process is easier because the drawing and concept are already done.

Beyond retarded take. Use pencil tool and stick to one moderate brush size and you have removed every one of the 'drawbacks' you've claimed against digital tools. All the while gaining the convenience and customizability needed to create art exactly the way that you want to make it. Plus, using a display removes the layer of complexity of having your hand and eye in different places -- screenless > display only in price and is not better in any other way.

They still have the 60 hertz so eh. And they are less color accurate than the oled but not by much.
The m2 iPad will perform almost the same as the m4 iPad Pro, they have the same ram too and storage. Overall you shouldn’t be worried too much between those too. The air is more than enough.

The normal iPad though has some issues, it has a non laminated display, 4 gigs of ram and only 64gb of storage and a worse screen than the iPad Air.

When drawing on the base IPad you will be fine but if you want to animate you might as well go for the air as 4gb of ram might not be enough.

Though the processor isn’t bad, it is faster than the Samsung galaxy tab s9 fe. Like double as fast. And those Samsung tablets especially the the s6 lite is quite slow. Samsung cheapens out on the chipsets too much.

120hz is more of a really nice bonus than a critical feature for drawing. Nice but I can live without it. Same with the hover but now that the air has it might as well use it. Honestly, the size is what got me excited. I got a pro over an air just because the 12.9 size feels great. And yeah, the past 3 gens of air have laminated screens. THAT is an important feature for drawing imo, and that's sorted so no worries there.

All that said, look for secondhand if possible. If you value the 120hz screen, you can quite literally get last gen pro for the same or less than a brand new air.

Fuck apple so hard man
I walked past a best buy earlier so I went in to see the new ipads for myself
The new pen feels nice, the haptics are great. The etched glass screen is pretty good too.
But goddamn I am not spending money just to upgrade to this. And I know they could have made the new pen backwards compatible. I know they could've just not paywalled this nano texture shit. But of course they won't, because they're fucking apple.

Anyway how's the kamvas 20? Considering going for that one since its an upgrade over my current one(kamvas 16) and weirdly shares a similar price in my country's amazon store

Also what do you do with old but working tablets? Selling sounds like a hassle but throwing it away seems like a waste of good electronics

more than you probably.
when you draw fine lines, you'd typically hold close to the tip (hence the pen grip products). that creates an inverse lever, opposite of what you'd want if you were to hold an object, especially for precision work. so the pen feels different depending on where you hold.
traditional pens and pencils and to some degree wacom pens (because they don't have a battery inside) don't have that problem.
apple pencil is trash and i'm willing to die on that hill.

for me, ipad air 2 and procreate work just fine.
>pens and nibs
i use my middle finger as a pen. for some reason i have better control with a finger than a pen for digital. the fuckin wobble, man...my finger is so much steadier. saves me money, too. $80 for a fuckin pen and less control...
try your finger first, then worry about pens.

i hold my s9 ultra kinda like a clipboard like pic related but in landscape mode sometimes, it gets tiring if you just use your arm but you can also brace it against your chest and that's comfortable for longer, downside being you have to crane your neck

In this case, the better choice between Huion Kamvas 22 Pro and Kamvas 22 Plus depends on your priorities:

Huion Kamvas 22 Pro:

Pros: Might be slightly cheaper depending on deals.
Cons: Older model (released in 2019), potentially less refined pen technology, possibly not fully laminated display (which can cause parallax).
Huion Kamvas 22 Plus:

Pros: Newer model (released later), likely improved pen performance, fully laminated display for better drawing experience, wider color gamut (140% vs 120%) for richer colors, simpler 3-in-1 cable connection.
Cons: More expensive. Lacks the programmable buttons on the side found on the Kamvas 22 Pro.
Here's a quick recommendation:

Choose Kamvas 22 Plus if: You prioritize the latest display technology, better color accuracy, and a smoother drawing experience. The simpler cable management might also be a plus.
Choose Kamvas 22 Pro if: You're on a tight budget and don't mind a potentially older pen or a slight parallax gap. The programmable buttons might be useful for shortcuts.
Ultimately, reading reviews and watching comparison videos can help you make an informed decision based on your specific needs.

There's however an argument to be made on where most of that weight is located. If it's close to the tip, then it's not a big deal, but the apple pen seems to have a lot of that weight on the back

Looking back I do agree with you on the matte screen protectors but I'm still pissed about the pencil pro thing. Not being able to use the pencil 2 on the new ipads is one thing but surely the new pencil should be able to work with the older ipads that use pencil 2. Or even at the very least release a pencil 2 with the haptics for older models, I'd buy that.
