I’m learning human anatomy atm and I have a lot of resources for going about it. Right now I’m working on gesture using Hampton’s method and I do a few studies on individual body parts but I want to focus on whole body now. Should I do Hampton’s book, Loomis’, or a Proko/Villpu course first? Hampton’s seems designed for those that want to draw from imagination so

Do Proko's course for Anatomy. Bridgman, Loomis, and Vilppu are all also good. Hampton's anatomy is simplified to the point where you can't really jump from that to drawing realistically shaped anatomy. It's way too difficult for the beginner, who should be learning basic and characteristic shapes first. Hampton's book is really best for learning a method of figure drawing and studying, and not for anatomy.

Recently had someone request I draw them something on twitter like just two characters. I said sure since I'm still /beg/ and not really going to bother coloring it but when I asked for a pose they changed their original request to add more characters + a background. At this point I'm thinking I should tell them to step it back a bit and just keep it to two or tell that the updated request would cost money. This isn't even going into whether or not it would be colored. Mind you this is the first time someone asked me to draw something for them so not sure what to do here.

1 because generally it has many tones, but not allways. Also in a painting with faces generally they are the most important part so artist have to put more attention there, so they could look more fancy than the rest of the work, no talk about normie stuff when they put just a bunch of shit.

>>4321293
dont do it, at the time that you get better little by little you ALLWAYS gonna have lurkers that only search for free drawings, they used to populate every site and the worst do it with every artist that they find, they just want to get free drawings of their oc characters so if someone ever come to ask you for oc drawing tell a direct NO, in fact the best you can do is never do request, they are a really waste of time, if you are not fast you are gonna waste days of life drawing shits that could even don't be appealing to you. The most healty thing you can do is state directly in your webs that you NOT do request, and only be open for commissions, that way yoy are gonna avoid most of those lurkers, they are gonna come anyway but in some point when you get really decent in your work they gonna stop a lot.

>>4322479

why specifically Koreans? i cant say.

why someone would want non white eyes? its because the harsh pure white will probably look out of place due to the tones in the image. pure white almost doesn't exist really its jarring to the eye to see it many times and the artist might not want the focus to be immediately on the characters eyes like head lights.

Like you desaturate it and it looks too gray, you saturate it and it looks off-putting, sometimes I try to lower the value but it ends up being too dark and it almost looks like the object is on the moon

Couple of factors, ambient light being one. Atmosphere being another. A cloudy, misty day will have washed out values, but a daylight scene at noon somewhere like California or the Mediterranean would have dark, vibrant colors. don't be retarded anon, it doesn't fucking matter, also if you know about comics you should already have as a fact that comic artist do it all the time, is the basic stuff.
The thing is that comics are not about the drawings, are about the narrative always, so in order to be constant in the regular publications, they do that, no one cares because you are not "looking" a comic, you "read" them.
Check some videos on youtube on how they made it, or japanese ones they dont bitch that much about the topic.

The only place you would have heard that is here, and it's nonsense. Or, it's said in the very specific world of manga, where their insane deadlines prohibit using models because they're just churning out pages as fast as possible. You need to train both - using reference AND drawing from imagination in any other context.
If you're not dealing with insane deadlines from Japanese publishers, why hobble yourself by denying reference as a source?

>> No.4341154

>>4340704
You're overthinking this. The lighting is a choice YOU make. You larn what that choice is, by experimenting and experience. Art is not programming, where there are rules and standards to making things work. The value range of your image is your decision. The criteria you need to use is things like 'What is the time of day, what is the ambient light, what is the environment" , things like that. And if you "cheat" a little to make it more appealing in your opinion, you do it.

Unless you don't have any bounce light whatsoever (you are floating in deep space, or holding a candle in a basement with black walls), or your light source is so large or diffused that everything is illuminated, this or any other strategy should work. Light and shadow are two completely different things, you can manipulate them however you want, it's a matter of choosing exposure and making design decisions. Specific effects happen under certain set-ups, but you can always manipulate these things without messing up the whole image if your fundamentals are solid.

for pose try playing with gestures or different ways to start your figure like torso>legs>arms>head. Proportions are only a serious struggle when you're not familiar with the figure, you need to understand and internalize what makes the human body and learn the measurement methods that work for you. For this I recommend using a skeleton and measuring the skull with your fingers or a ruler and notice which other parts share the same or similar length.

I used to struggle a lot with proportions but reading artbooks without drawing really helped me, of course drawing is what is going to cement all of this in the end.
