The small packages in "instant miso" and the miso in tubs aren't that much different, nowadays, as they're preserved either way. The tubs do have a fresher taste, though, but most people probably wouldn't tell the difference in most cases.

Instant miso is pretty much just for really lazy people. All you really have to do is make the effort to cut everything else.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It all depends though, really. I mean, it's sort of like saying how it's important to make a good-tasting, aromatic croissant at times, but it may be something you eat everyday, and getting one at any old bakery would suffice. With miso, there's really good quality paste, or good tasting home-made paste. Now a days, I just buy a brand that I generally like and KNOW doesn't taste like crap, and it's just fine. The taste of basic miso in my breakfast, and whatnot-- not too important and does just fine.

There isn't really any difference between instant miso and "real" miso other than the scallions, tofu, wakame, etc. Miso is pretty much bean paste, so what difference would it be to buy instant miso packages and a box of the paste? None. The quality of miso varies between brands, of course, but uh... generally, this is all about the same in most grocery stores.

With the scallions, tofu, wakame, and etc-- it's just freezedried. You can cut all these things freshly, but in the end, there really isn't much of a difference.

Miso soup is good to have with meals, but uh... not much is thought of it, just as how rice is commonly eaten everyday.

Actually, white traditionally symbolizes death, and in some cases, purity in both Japanese and Chinese culture. It's just that now, it's considered more modern and common to wear black instead because they had adopted this tradition from Western influences. Not a myth, just old.

OK, fist real post in 4chan, sorry for not knowing / using the lingo.

I've been looking for a good Tokyo gig listing site for some time, but I can't find any really good ones. Tokyogigguide.com is good for mainstream, but I'm mostly into alternative electronic and 8bit music. And I can't read Japanese, for my eternal shame.
Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks in advance :)
