The Japanese definitely seem to agree, most of their Salamander stories feature them.

In other news, Making of the Memehound.
Key concept is "Savage Hound", "Black and fire", "Dangerous look", "Black sclerae"

The "top dog" of the monster girl world, it's the savage "Hellhound".
I'll admit that that idea sketch just looks terrible, but it looks rather simple because I already had the rough design finished in my head, and pretty much started with the actual artwork right away. So, fewer rough sketches this time!

The original concept of the Hellhound traces back to the United Kingdom, where it is also known as the "black dog". It is believed to be a dog of a Greek goddess of the underworld, Hecate, and possesses burning red eyes and a black body, and is a symbol of evil and death, and there are anecdotes of deaths caused by these monsters.
To convey this kind of feeling, even though the Encyclopedia version of course won't kill people, she'll rape men she comes across a whole lot.
That is not to say that they won't become emotionally attached even with how violent they are, but among the dog girls of the Encyclopedia, they are definitely rather unique.
