Just as quickly as I arrived in Yukari's office, Seija and I were expelled, the doors closed behind us, and two more Youkai appeared before us.
"Chen-kun, this is Goro-san and Seija-san." The small Tanuki, Kuma spoke.
"Hi, I'm Chen that's me." The cat waved nervously.
I couldn't help but notice the expertly knitted clothing she wore. Someone must love her very much. Regardless, I had wanted to meet with the black cat for sometime, so this was paradoxically good fortune.
"Hello Chen." I waved, kneeling so we were at eye-level. "It's nice to meet you!" I said, appearing as friendly as possible, but trying not to overplay it, kids hate it when you do that.
"Um, your outfits look like Ran's!" She observed nervously pointing.
"Yeah, she's the one who forced them on us." Seija remarked.
"Pretty tassels." Kuma added, batting at one of the things that hung from Seija's apron.
"Yes, Ran was nice enough to make this for us after we helped Yukari." I said, smiling.
"You um, do you like Yukari? You don't think she's suspicious?" Chen asked.
I scratched my head. "As suspicious as any other Youkai I suppose? I can't say I hate her."
"Are you Anon's friend?" She asked.
One not versed in dealing with kids might mistake this for interrogation, but I knew children were curious as well as nervous around people they've never met. Best to play along with such things.
"I haven't met him formally, but my Father was, so I guess I am to! I certainly want what's best for him if that's what your asking."
"But you help yu- I mean, are you trying to-err, do you like spiders?!" The cat blurted out.
"Absolutely. I always made sure to let them go outside since I was a kid, even the ones that liked to bite." I answered honestly.
"Good!" Chen said, nodding with approval before walking away and dashing the moment she was past a corner. Kuma following her, afraid to be left behind.
"You saved spiders? What, mommy Hijiri teach you all life is precious?" Seija joked.
"Spiders have a cute quality to them, like some other people I like to keep around."
"Oh, and who'd that be?"
"Who knows?" I whistled.
