There's a saying in Japanese, which I fucking forgot because I'm stupid, that basically says "two shots and you're buzzed," or something along those lines.

It means TWO shots will be exact amount that will allow the best happy buzz, and any more than that will make you more tired, etc.

Of course, EVERY man, woman, and dog will have different alcohol tolerance levels, but this is basically the mean average for Japanese adults.

Personally? I find 3 glasses to be sufficiently satisfying for accompaniment with a meal. If I want to get completely drunk, I can drink about 10 before I start to feel the negative effects take over.
