Mandatory in my school was Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant and other philosophers who created Western culture as we know it today. In my University political education you may add John Stewart Mill, John Locke et al.

Nietzsche, on the other hand, was a bitter lunatic asshole who's blatherings did nothing but provide fodder for Nazis and other inhuman bastards with grand delusions of superiority and inspire postmodernism and existentialist philosophy, both notable for contributing nothing to human society except incredibly dull books about faggots who get drunk and watch bullfights while moping about how much everything sucks.
