I can't give you a definitive answer but this may be interesting to you. I've heard 佐田 pronounced both ways (harder plosive "T" vs softer alveolar "D"). Even in "mainstream" actors/public figures who share this surname and would have an "official"/internationally accepted English transliteration/Romanisation, I've seen it as both Sada and Sata.
When Mariko pronounces her own stage name, she goes with the harder "T" sound. Her own pronunciation is why I've changed my own pronunciation/spelling of it + her Twitter handle also features Sata too, not Sada - if that counts for anything
