The only tea that is really tea is stuff from the "camellia sinensis" plant.

Black tea is fully oxidized, green partially, oolong less so, and white has little to no oxidization. Pu-erh is fermented tea that has been aged like a wine in the open air for many weeks or months. It gives it a very earthy taste and a smell that resembles soil.

Everything else is a "tisane" (proper term for herbal tea). With the exceptions of stuff like "red tea" which is called Rooibos and comes from "aspalathus linearis" plant, more similar to legumes than real tea.

But for the sake of the English language, it's all tea in the end. Pic related, I think tea plantations are very pretty.
