The way the manga handled Rika breaking there was great though. Really, part of the issue with Gou anime/Sotsu is that Rika just didn't seem to be all there from the start and aside from Hanyuu disappearing (which was rendered completely moot by Sotsu) nothing felt very personal, but the manga goes all in on it.

It's all to give more impact to Rika breaking.

He does make Satoko more affectionate in Neko too (like coming out of nowhere to rub her shoulders, forcefully hugging her and rubbing herself on Rika, and oddly blushing during the Watanagashi scene).

Considering the cliff hanger of the Gou manga, I think the manga is going with cold Witch Rika being Witchtoko's own accidental creation rather than the anime which seemed to imply she was just like that all along.
