Clearing her throat, Shinki suddenly shifts back to her usual bubbly tone to ask. “So wanna see pictures of my daughter Louise? She’s one of my daughters who left the nest, she’s spent quite a while touring Europe.”

After a quick recovery from the tonal whiplash, Anon readily agrees. “Yeah, I didn’t know you had kids traveling around the outside world, though I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.”

Despite her words, Shinki remains silent for a while before sighing, “Alright, she’s truly no longer listening.”

Anon blinks, “Eh?”

Shinki doesn’t quite chuckle or snort but instead has a mildly amused breath. “I suppose it must seem strange on your end. Yukari isn’t watching us anymore.”

Anon doesn’t seem too pleased with the revelation, “Is she normally watching? Are you truly certain she’s gone?”

Shinki shrugs, “No clue to answer your first question. As for the second, there’s always a possibility of some super special rule-breaking magical trump card, but to the full extent of my magical and non-magical knowledge, there’s no one observing this place but us.”

Anon replies, “I suppose that’s about as good a guarantee as I can get. So… what is it that you were waiting to say?”

Now fully back in her serious tone, Shinki says, “I hope it isn’t that much of a surprise when I say that there are people plotting your escape. I’ve little to say in that regard besides to wait warmly. No, my offer is this: should we succeed, I can get you to the outside world with your papers in order and some healthy funds to live off of.”

Anon eyes Shinki skeptically, “And the catch?”

Shinki rolls her eyes, “What, I’m the devil so there must be a catch?”

Anon nods, “That tends to be the case.”

Shiki smirks, “Well, you’re right actually, there’s a catch. Your virginity, hand it over.”

Anon frowns, “That’s not… I have a child Shinki, I can’t really give over something I don’t have.”

Shinki tilts her head, “What does the stork bringing you a baby have to do with anything?”

Anon gives Shinki a look prompting her to continue, “Besides, even if you’ve lost that virginity, there are other…”

Anon clenches at the implication, “I don’t know about that."

Shinki smiles, “Good! Because it was a joke. The benefit I get from helping you is the warm and fuzzy feeling that distracts from guilt or ennui. Also, I’m going to use the opportunity to try and convince you to hook up with Alice.”

Anon grows visibly less tense, “Ah, well at least you’re upfront about it. So you can get me anywhere? How can you even bypass the barrier? I thought that was something very special.”

Shinki smirks, “It’s not as special as Yukari might want you to believe. It’s rather easy for me because Makai sits outside of Gensokyo while being connected to it through a sort of tunnel under the barrier. As the master of Makai, creating a link to the outside world from there is a piece of cake.”

Continuing she adds, “And yeah anywhere within reason. Japan, Australia, the British Isles, anywhere in Europe, Brazil, the good ol’ US of A, etcetera etcetera. Save like North Korea and the Central African Republic, I can settle you anywhere.”

Despite Shinki’s more than generous offer, Anon seems troubled. “So do you think I should leave after this is all said and done? Pack it all up and cross the border with Hana. I suppose it might be for the best, but can I even live a normal life at this point?”

Shinki shrugs, “I dunno, can you? I’m not a prophet and can’t decide what will make you happy. The only person who can is you. If you want to know what I think you should do, I’d say you should take Hana, Alice, and Aunn to some cozy chateau in Occintania and give me thirty grandkids. That’d certainly make me happy and hopefully, it’d do the same for you.”

Anon whistles, “Thirty more kids? That’s a tall order. I’m not doing too great with just the one. Besides, even if I had a kid once a year, in thirty years I’d be…”

Shinki disagrees, “Oh pish posh, you’re still a lively young man and even then a little bit of alchemy could put you back in your twenties.”

Anon rubbed his hair when Shinki said that, for some reason. “I’ll think about it.”

For seemingly no reason, Shinki begins to rustle around in her pockets. “Now, Maggie is a sweet girl when she’s not going all chuuni evil eye mode. I suppose it’s my fault that I used the concept of the evil eye as her basis, but c’mon pretending to be a lightning monster is a bit much. Especially when she looks so cute in a kimono.”

Anon thankfully plays along, “I suppose I should be thankful that I never had to deal with that. I can imagine it be a bit much when they have real magic.”

Shinki sighs, “Caring for an infant Yuugie was certainly an experience. But how can I get frustrated at a face like this.”

Shinki proudly presents some pictures of Yuugenmagan in a human form to which Anon shakes his head sadly, “It’s impossible, the cute will walk all over you and there’s nothing to be done.”
