The Tengu artist known as under her penname Jade Parakeet, or JP for short, had a problem. The Winter Solstice was approaching soon, and she still had a major case of writer’s block. The festival would draw huge crowds, and that would mean huge profits if she could get a new release out in time for it. But the well of ideas had run dry, and was was racking her brain to think of something, anything for a new doujin. Some might think it was easy. They might say for erotic doujin all you needed to do was create some scenario, then draw a few pages of flesh meeting flesh with some half-assed dialogue. They were wrong. This was an art. One that took skill and dedication to master. Any simpleton capable of drawing the naked body could create some banal story, like the tired story of a man being lost in the woods assaulted by a youkai, go through the same routine of setup, foreplay, sex and ending and toss it out on the market. There were many like that being sold already, and no doubt more being drawn for the festival at this moment.

But JP was an artist. Her erotica was more than some cheap titillation for strangers. It was an aspect of her herself. Her very soul, all her effort went into making these stories of an erotic nature. She created fully realized characters and had the story flow around them. Sure, they all ended in sex, but she wanted to do more then stimulate her readers genitals, she wanted to stimulate their brains and hearts as well. Great dialogue, heart-pulling drama, a dash of comedy! She’d do it all as soon as she figured out what to write. She’d heard plenty of rumors about that teacher in the human village. Maybe something like “Teacher’s Sex Ed”? Hm, she needed a better hook then the two of them just doing it. Maybe something about winter would be more fitting. He would be stuck inside of a cabin during a snowstorm with a strange woman, and one thing would lead to another. It could work but it just lacked a little something at the moment. To work her brain a bit, she doodled on the page a bit. Hm, maybe in this doujin he would go three rounds instead of two, she could fit in more pages that way.

JP snapped her head up at the sound of the door being opened and found herself facing an angry goddess. Kanako stood tall in the doorway, her tall form blocking out the light as she radiated divine wrath. “You” she said as she closed the door and made her way towards JP “I’ve let you get away with filth peddling long enough, do you know what you’ve done, making something like this about a goddess?” A copy of a familiar doujin was thrown on the desk in front of her. It was one of her more popular works, but the presence of Kanako here meant trouble. But JP was a tengu, and if they were good at anything, it was arrogantly ignoring warning signs right in front of them.

“Did you not not like it? I think it’s one of my best works” The tengu said as she flipped through it.

“N-No! You made me look like a lustful monster, and that’s the issue! If something like this spreads too much and people believe in it, It’ll be a disaster for me!”

“Take it easy. Look at the page right here. It says that the characters in this work are not reflective on any person living or deceased. Only the likenesses are similar, everything else is different. None of your worshipers will believe you’re like this, so you’ll stay the same.”

Kanako’s expression loosened a bit, but anger still remained. “Still it’s insulting you would make something like this with no thought on how it would affect others. Have you no shame?”


“Insulting? No, not at all. It’s some of my finest work yet. I had lots of compliments on how the goddess looked. I might have had the tits a little too big, though” JP held up the doujin as a comparison. “But Anon here ain’t bad either. This is when I started drawing him accurately. All the important parts at least”

“Really?” Kanako gasped out, mouth agape. JP raised an eyebrow. It’s not everyday a fish just ignores the hook and jumps right in the boat.

“It’s the truth. I’m an artist after-all. You know what? How about I tell you my next idea for a story?” A germ of an idea that just sprouted in JP’s mind as she looked over the lonely goddess. The goddess nodded.

“A man meets a goddess, because hmm, his wife died. Yeah. He’s a widower and he’s so lonely. He wants comfort . But the goddess is also lonely, so they get closer together and.”

“Do they kiss? Do they marry?” Kanako interjects.

“Sure they do. It’s a nice vanilla romance with sex. People will love it!” JP jots down notes on some paper, her mind on fire.

“As long as it’s not based on me, then I suppose I can’t do anything to stop you” Kanako mutters.

“Sure Sure, I got you” the tengu as she wrote.

As the tengu worked, Kanako left the building, heart still thudding. Suwako would throw her off the mountain if she found out. It had to remain a secret. Still, she had that chore with the Kappa to attend to now.
