Yes, it's perfectly readable.

The hugest issue I can think of is the text editing bug that prevents you from completing several of the in-game achievements, so it's amazingly annoying and nonfunctional in that regard, but you can always uninstall the English patch when you're done and complete the achievements that way to get the final CG.

Comyu is more focused on the characters than the super battle that it has going, which is not very good either, doesn't really feel like a shonen.

As for the polls, that stopped months after it was decided Inganock was going to be translated first. There was very little reason to stop doing that except they were already too busy with an already defined schedule and Ixrec wasn't as experienced in the topic as he is now.

It's funny because the polls contributed to estabilish Beautiful series as their main projects and didn't stop them from picking anything else later on. They still have the word on this decision, polls are just there to see what people want, not brainwash translators.

Kotori route is pretty damn exciting! I'm not sure where it's all going, too, which is a plus. That one scene (you know the one) nearly brought a tear to my eye, too.

I'm so glad I saved it for later (until after Chihaya and Lucia); while I imagine playing it first and not knowing wtf is going on would add a layer of enjoyment, the big reveals that happen in the other routes certainly don't diminish the excitement or suspense of Kotori's, and it's far and away more enjoyable.

One time I'll have to join one of these translation groups, I dunno why they take so long.

A few years ago I sat down and translated (on the fly) all of Stellar Theater in a .txt file in the space of a weekend. I thought it was pretty easy if a bit taxing doing constant copy and pasting from a text hooker to have the Japanese text in the file too.

Does hacking the game take that long? I know a couple of native Japanese with a half decent grasp of english, we're all NEET and could be a mean translation group if I could figure out how to do the hacking.

Part of me doesn't want to translate because shitty fanbases crop up when that happens.

It depends on the game. Generally, older VNs are easier to hack and/or have been hacked by someone already, especially when the same engine (NScripter, Kirikiri) is used in many VNs. VNs for consoles are easier to hack than PC ones because they have only a handful of data formats or even engines (in PS2 case) used across many VNs and rarely have anti-hacking measures; PC has more variety and, consequently, difficulty.

Worrying about fanbases is the most alarming part of your post. If you let their opinions influence you enough to stop the translation, sooner or later someone will.

You should ask yourself which VN will make the world better if it's translated, check that it's not going to be translated in foreseeable future by someone else and translate it. Don't worry about not having premade tools - if you're serious about translation, finding a hacker to write them for you won't be a problem. And by the way: if none of you are programmers, forget about hacking the game yourself.

I redownloaded it twice and once from another source, I tried opening it with 7zip instead of winrar too.
