Kyrie was the murderer and Yasu was her accomplice. She left Ange at home and was going to kill everyone, including Yasu, then set off the bomb and escape to the submarine base which was listed on government maps when Rokkenjima was a military outpost. The second mansion was not on these maps and unknown to Kyrie at the time. Without everyone dead, she would inherit all the family fortune and business interests, and would be able to search the island for the gold at her own leisure.

Eva had already attempted to solve the Witch's Epitaph previously and finally succeed, finding the gold, the bomb and the tunnel to Kowardian.

Kyrie began murdering people with Rudolf revealing before his death that Battler was her biological son. Not wanting to kill her own child, she decided she would escape to the sub base with Battler after revealing Yasu to him after everyone else was dead and leaving Kyrie the only one he could trust.

Unfortunately, Yasu caught on and double crossed Kyrie herself leaving her to die in the explosion with the corpses of the murdered family. Eva escaped to Kowardian, Battler and Yasu escape to the sub base.

It brought over a lot of /a/ posters after ep4, when the anime aired. After that, it went from murder mystery to fantasy drama, while the fanbase had been heavily discussing mystery theories. The heavy discussion and response to that transition caused problems for /jp/, with way too many Umineko threads appearing which mostly consisted of 'SHKANON IS THE ANSWER ARE YOU BLIND' and 'SHKANON IS FUCKING RETARDED SHUT UP'

Then, to differentiate themselves from the retards, posters started hating on Umineko. It's as much of a reaction to Umineko fans as it's genuine disappointment with the direction the story went.

When did they do that? If you mean EP5, that was a tricky scene in a tricky game. It was told from Battler's perspective, but he wasn't the detective.

Basically, Lambda and Bern were scribbling on the gameboard and throwing pieces to each other. EP5 is all fucked up.

You have to understand that the whole Shkanon thing is only true for the gameboards. Kanon probably "never" existed in the real world.

Shkanon was able to fool everyone for two years because she was written that way. She was really lucky.

It never happened. That's what first tipped people off between ep3 and ep4; Kanon and Shanon never, ever appeared together in a scene from Battler's perspective. Only in episode 5 is there a scene when this happens, but it's first hinted at that Battler's narration is unreliable in that episode (he sees Kinzo at some point), and later in that episode confirmed that Erika's viewpoint is the only reliable one as she's the detective for that episode, not Battler.

It just sort of went everywhere and nowhere at once. Some of the characters are good, most aren't. Miguel and Caleb had a pretty interesting dynamic, but it doesn't go anywhere.
The ending of the first one is also really shitty.

The music in general gets a C minus. Like three really good tracks with the rest being mediocre.

I don't think you understood. They weren't "remaking" her character. Battler was actually playing an allusion to Kinzo in that episode. In fact, he pretty much WAS Kinzo's story played out in a not-so-subtle way. Kinzo lost the love of his life, went insane, and raised a daughter to be like her. However, she couldn't actually be Beatrice. She tried and tried her best for father's approval. She wanted to be what her father wanted to be, but was confused because of her lack of knowledge and understanding. Kinzo was a dick to her, but eventually, with the help of the servants, she managed to become a person close enough to her mother to please her father. Kinzo thought of it as a miracle, Beatrice had actually been revived! That's what the story was. It wasn't really Beato, it was telling the story of Kinzo and Yasu's mother.
