I really don't fucking understand why there's some sort of notion that placing Touhou and Kancolle in an adversarial context is not allowed. Even if the notion of a real "war" is retarded shit mostly propagated by retards, the fact is that they compete for artists, interest, and space. Anyone who followed a lot of Touhou artists would have noticed a steady fleet invasion of their feed in the last two years.

And I'd wager that artists gave this game a massive fucking bootstrap. Sure, I don't live in Japan so I'm maybe not representative, but I only got interested in this game because a lot of artists I followed did, and I'd guess the same is true for a lot of other people... maybe that or a twitter media explosion.

Has someone made a attendance number list yet that is not just by search numbers using the catalogue search? Since I have only seen those so far, with Kancolle leading but Touhou not so far off, considering there was a reitaisai less than a month ago. I think comparing exact numbers from this comiket and recent ones would be quite interesting, also roughly what the fandom produces (as in division by music, non-h manga, porn, games, merchandise and so on). I was at a Reitaisai once and know how much non-h mangas there are. I'm just curious if kancolle really is just porn and comedy webcomics.

Kancolle has its own events. Hourai Gekisen, Yoi! takes place every month and while it's not a large convention by any means, there are many others.

Kouromu also is only scratching the surface, both get a lot of small dedicated conventions that nobody ever hears about.
