do not look like the actual manga page in terms of contrast/tones. That happens when scan anything - a photograph, a comic page, a piece of notebook paper. This has been explained to retards like you thousands of times already, but I'll be nice and do it once more. Halftones are not supposed to be perceivable to the eye. They represent shades and gradients in a medium that does not have enough different colors to represent them directly, and they look like shades and gradients when you look at the sheet of paper that has them printed over. If they didn't, they wouldn't be used in the first place.

For all its low quality, the original scan shows shades and gradients as they're supposed to be seen. Your destruction of it does not. It's not just a loss of detail (though that's also a problem, of course) - the real problem is a loss of clarity. Making halftone patterns perceivable (which is pretty much all you've accomplished, aside of pumping up contrast much above what even a highest quality paper could achieve) makes it harder, if not outright impossible, to perceive what they're supposed to represent.

>> No.13112288

>Halftones are not supposed to be perceivable to the eye
Dumbest shit I've read all day. Manga uses screentones. Not halftones, this isn't a technicolor comic. You can post again once you've actually held a physical manga and scanned it. Until then, fuck off.

>the original scan shows shades and gradients as they're supposed to be seen.
It looks exactly the same as the leveled pages. You can see the screentones in the original scans.
>It's not just a loss of detail
There is no loss of detail. Or clarity.
>Making halftone patterns perceivable
Leveling does not make screentones more perceivable. It affects contrast only.

If your eyes automatically smooth the picture, maybe it's time to have them checked.

>It affects contrast only.
You did not just affect the contrast. You wouldn't be able to just affect the contrast, since the scans are already highly contrasted between black and white. What you're doing is removing the midtones. And since the resolution of the scanner does not align with the resolution of the printing press, most of the midtones are found on the edges between black and white parts. This means less detail, visibly jagged edges and, in the worst case, a disgusting moire where the halftones used to be.

There are laws that say they can do as they please (as long as they don't harm humans physically) and will only face a danmaku match in response. I could go on, but what's the point.

>they are persecuted beings just like jews in Israel
Fixed it for you.

The fairies are a special case. And that was long into OSP, after they've been living near the shrine for years. Look what they thought about her in SaBND.

Also, PMiSS:
>strong youkai tend to like her, while weak youkai fear her
It doesn't get any more explicit than that.

They wanted her to suffer for her betrayal, again, sealing eternally is far worse than death. Stop making meaningless assumptions, she's not immortal in the slightest.
>Unless they take it easy and use the opportunity to do some training
Too bad this isn't the case seeing as how she didn't do squat for 5000 years.
>The weaker youkai fear and despise her.
Please, look at the fairies, don't try to cheat by saying ''eh those are an exception''. All the weak youkai still show up at the parties in her shrine, including the ones that aren't even about food like the halloween one where Cirno was dressed as Godzilla.
>You should consider that maybe the parts I did not reply to might have been not worth replying to.
Oh so you're saying ''I can't counter-argue them so I'll discard them''.
>really?
Yes, that's why it's not only allowed but ENCOURAGED for people to beat up youkai, especially Reimu who's job is just that.
>Fixed it for you.
Thanks for agreeing that youkai are in the shitter in terms of respect and are actually hunted down, their genocide is a human goal.
>>13121974
Read the manga, their whole purpose in life is to be acknowledged by Reimu, and they achieve it in the very end, in this case the mere fact of becoming Reimu's SERVANTS is enough to make them happy.

Fearing a guardian means you respect their strength enough to consider them a threat to your abilities.

ZUN himself says Akyuu is full of shit, and you can confirm that with >>13121925. You do know Akyuu hates the shit out of youkai (except Yukari, or at least, she doesn't show it and is just trying to survive), remember that FS chapter where she angrily denies Kosuzu's claims that a youkai might just so happen to be innocent?

You're goddamn stupid, would you make your enemy's suffering end instantly or make him suffer for all time?

Also remember how news of a youkai getting exterminated is something either ignored or praised whereas news/rumours of a human getting attacked is an emergency.

She did lots of squats. And push-ups. And a magical scroll made of pure sutras that makes her body invincible at will.

>All the weak youkai still show up at the parties in her shrine
I'm not sure what's that supposed to prove. The fairies made her a fair because they wanted to cheer her up, which is a valid example of them liking her - but the others simply being at the shrine when there's a party means nothing other than they like parties.
Again, refer to >>13121974 for a glimpse of what youkai who aren't reckless or self-assured think of Reimu.

Nope. She's just adamant about keeping appearances.

>Why wouldn't she be? There's absolutely nothing implying she's the least bit immortal or resistant.
They didn't have the ability to kill her because youkai are stupidly tough and regenerate. It's much easier to use some magic shit and seal them. This is the case for basically every youkai during the era of human exterminators pre-Gensokyo.

>Said a person who thinks seclusion is a punishment for a Japanese buddhism practitioner.
You seem to think that sealing in an alternate dimension for eternity is the same as the traditional, non-fantasy concept of seclusion. You do know that Byakuren thanks the heroine for unsealing her? And who knows what that seal was, it could have been a miniature confinement with eternal torture.
> a party means nothing other than they like parties.
You don't seem to understand that the sheer fact that they're going to a party of a ''MERCILESS MURDERER'' means something? You wouldn't go to a party hosted by Ed Gein would you?

Also haven't you noticed that the ''youkai who aren't reckless or self assured'' you refer to are the very same fairies who explicitly like her and made that festival out of the blue? They surprised her and pleased her.
>In a firework throwing contest
What? No, it's all the time, look at Marisa in stage 4 of IN, hunting youkai is a sport just like hunting animals in the real world, except is the season is all year long.
>He didn't really.
He did, check ZUN's word at the end of PMiSS.
>Akyuu herself did in-story, including an explanation of why and how.
Bullshit, the fairies contradict what she says, as does every weak youkai since they visit her and aren't running away in fear instead like Akyuu claims.

>Nope. She's just adamant about keeping appearances.
Okay first of all Kosuzu is the last person Akyuu needs to keep appearances with considering Kosuzu is the one defending youkai in this case and her close friend, not to mention, at the end of the chapter whatever adamant appearance she needed to keep was thrown away by Akyuu saying she was wrong and Kosuzu was right right in the open.
>Anyone who isn't a movie villain tier idiot would do the same.
Well in this case it's a whole village of extremely honoraboru japs who are offended by treason more than muslims, you know why there has been so many creative, horrifyingly painful methods of execution throughout history rather than just opting for the fastest, most painless one? Remember crucifixion? That was made for the sole notion of keeping the criminal writhing in pain as long as possible before he died of blood loss.

Seriously, I can't believe you deliberately ignored the above and opted for making some crazy shit about immortality, especially back then when youkai murder was the most common thing and no spellcard bullshit either.
>>13123042
>Byakuren isn't a threat to Reimu.
Yes she is, holy shit, she's the biggest threat to her after the moriyas and has the ''villager-turned-youkai'' sin which seemingly warrants death.
>than is practical to be killed.
Reimu would objectively be in a better position if Byakuren was dead because it means one less religious group to compete with.

>They didn't have the ability to kill her because youkai are stupidly tough and regenerate
What, you think youkai weren't ever able to be killed before Reimu? If anything the shrine maidens before Reimu were the ones killing youkai instead of befriending (the girls anyway) them. It's not just the shrine maiden who could kill youkai either, it's anyone with spiritual power (everyone who can do danmaku has spiritual power).
>no there aren't jesus christ
As I said Marisa is practicing youkai hunting in IN stage 4 and the act of exterminating youkai is something that is praised. Meanwhile every 1-2 WaHH/FS chapters there's something that merely MAY endanger a human and suddenly it's an emergency.

It's not just humans who encourage youkai brutalizing, it's also other youkai, see: IN and SA where Reimu and Marisa's youkai partners ask and even force them to beat up whatever youkai they find and call them an enemy if they aren't, see: Yukari with Yamame and Satori, especially Satori who offered tea to Reimu and she accepted before being denied by Yukari.
>Akyuu writes a book specifically for the purpose of pumping up the danger of youkai for the benefit of humans and youkai alike?
How is it benefitting youkai? If anything it's making them more feared which affects their human relationships, look at Yuuka who does shopping in the human village, her article in PMiSS is bad propaganda for her image.

Also the mentioned FS chapter where she's PISSED at youkai being ''good''.

>it could have been a miniature confinement with eternal torture
But it was not, and she emerged from it happier and stronger than ever. Fact.

>MERCILESS MURDERER
More like a bully and occasional mugger. The recent merciless murder is kind of a first for her, no reason to believe it applies to regular youkai with so much prior evidence to the contrary.

>hunting youkai is a sport
Just like tennis. You know Reimu and Marisa mostly have danmaku matches between themselves, right? It's a convenient conflict resolution method.

>check ZUN's word at the end of PMiSS.
Sure, let's check.
>an objective rather than subjective point of view was the goal
>those who have the most realistic perspectives on things are, as expected, the humans of Gensokyo, with their optimal levels of judgment and reasoning. For that reason, instead of myself, I had Akyuu come forth.
I smell irony, but if you want proof of Akyuu's unreliability, you're better off checking her own words.

>>13125709
>Kosuzu is the last person Akyuu needs to keep appearances with
You misunderstand. She insists that Kosuzu keep appearances. Ordnung muss sein, she wants to preserve the integrity of Gensokyo's society. They even specifically discuss how Reimu is exempt from hating on youkai due to not being a villager.

>Akyuu saying she was wrong
Only that never happened, stop making shit up.

>Remember crucifixion?
A case of a certain Jewish sect guru aside, crucificion was a perfectly effective execution method. Sealing is clearly not.

>''villager-turned-youkai''
Byakuren is not from Gensokyo, and the village likely didn't even exist at her time.

And half of the bosses are "practicing" human eating in their respective stages.
>Of course, you're all smart players, and you won't take everything they say literally...

>How is it benefitting youkai?
They feed on human belief (more specifically, fear). They need to be feared. They're keeping human population in the village like herd animals for this sole purpose.
That's a fundamental part of the setting. Do you have any idea about Touhou lore at all?
