Probably hurt more if anything. I think iM@S has been slowly dwindling for a good few years now and the production value of Uma on the game, anime, and management side seems to be a lot higher than any iM@S branch has, which led a number of people who felt disgruntled with the series over there instead. However, I don't think it was a massive blow, mainly because I think most people that jumped ship had already dropped iM@S years earlier and Uma's fanbase seems to have more younger fans that were never into iM@S and got into Uma for the girls and more older fans that were also never into iM@S and got into Uma for the horses.
Not really a seiyuu question, probably more of a question for /vg/. Lot of seiyuu overlap though.

I think im@s being around longer and plateaued earlier has led to a lot of the more troubling fans migrated to other idol contents throughout the years. These days only SC has those in numbers and that's where all the recent incidents came from in the last few years. Whereas LL and Bushido have much more rapid hype cycles for new lineups and that that keep energizing the same bunch of fans including the koebutas. Uma, due to its tangible relations with actual horses, enjoys (or suffers) from a stronger tendency to self regulate and censor, but that doesn't mean it's free from them either.

In addition their VAs are more active since they have the smallest cast and overall they get a faster rate of content to keep them active.
