I think this is one of the first times I can remember hearing a vtuber sing Ichiko Aoba. I was lucky enough to see Ichiko sing this song live, and it was nothing short of amazing. Just got back from Ado's Jakarta live. Jesus fucking christ that was amazing, yuropean anons in here are in for a treat. I got spoiled for her tracklist from here a few threads ago but that did not dampen the experience at all. The raw energy of her live performance is truly amazing to be experienced live, just like today's Useewa, Ashura-chan, Rebellion, Tot Musica, Gyakkou, Freedom, Senbonzakura, and Show, the crowd truly went wild there. I even shamelessly scream Da-rat-a-tat-a-tat, HORNY! during show. One thing I could say though, you better off not getting the front row seat. I sat at like, the 4th row from the stage and the stage lights are super bright it's sometimes kinda distract me from looking at Ado. You guys better bring ear protection as well because it is kinda loud that my right ear is still ringing a bit, but maybe that was Jakarta venue onry.

No singer is the best at every song. But I think HACHI is one of the best at what she does. Especially if you are talking about pure vsingers. And she is smart enough to know what kind of sound works for her. Just for a comparison, try listening to Rainy Proof sang by HACHI, and then listen to Tsuki trying to cover it. I think Tsuki is actually quite decent at doing a Suis (Yorushika) type voice, but her voice lacks the warmth of HACHI's voice. A lifetime of training will not give you a tone this warm, if you are not already blessed. I'm leaving Tsuki out to dry here (she isn't normally this bad I promise), but the truth is that it is really difficult to cover HACHI's original songs well. And in fact, I'm not aware of a single one.

I think Tsuki suffers from not transposing the song down just a bit. You can hear how thin her voice gets when she goes for the proofs in the chorus with the rising tone, or the vocal improv wails. I actually like AZKi's cover of Beyond the Light, though it's a less HACHI-esque HACHI song since while she has her normal breathy voice, it still sounds full and rich. MiMi also does a great job with her live rendition of Rainy Proof because her voice retains it's depth and warmth as you note, but I do find it hard to argue against the premise that HACHI knows what her strengths are and leans into it hard which produces beautiful results. It really helps that she found someone who was a master at composing songs around her voice early in her career and locked him into the song writing dungeon.
