so when looking up "ええい" with yomichan, one of the possible entries is "良い -e"
anyone know what this '-e' form or whatever means? I know what ええい means, but when I saw that I got curious. I tried googling, it only brings up stuff related to へ

Certainly! The concept of "Fictional Entities" refers to objects, characters, events, and entire worlds that are created within fictional narratives such as novels, films, plays, and myths. Here's a summary of the topic based on the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy:

Existence of Fictional Entities: Philosophers debate whether fictional entities exist in the same way that real entities do. Some argue that fictional entities exist only within the contexts of their respective narratives, while others suggest that they have a kind of "existence" within our imaginations or in the minds of authors and readers.

Ontological Status: The ontological status of fictional entities raises questions about their nature. Are they abstract objects, mental constructs, or something else entirely? Different philosophical theories offer varying perspectives on how to understand the nature of fictional entities.

Creation and Representation: Fictional entities are created by authors through acts of imagination and storytelling. These entities are represented using language, symbols, images, and other mediums to evoke specific concepts and experiences in the minds of audiences.

Truth and Fiction: The relationship between truth and fiction is explored in discussions about fictional entities. While fictional narratives are not factually true in the same way that historical or scientific accounts are, they can convey truths about human experiences, emotions, and values.

Interpretation and Meaning: Understanding fictional entities involves interpretation and analysis. Readers and viewers engage with fictional works to uncover deeper meanings, themes, and messages conveyed through the portrayal of characters, events, and settings.

Aesthetics and Creativity: Fictional entities play a crucial role in literature, art, and entertainment. They inspire creativity, imagination, and aesthetic appreciation by offering alternative worlds, perspectives, and possibilities that expand our understanding of reality.

Overall, the study of fictional entities delves into philosophical inquiries about imagination, representation, meaning, and the nature of reality as portrayed through the realm of fiction.

>The classical Japanese language (文語 bungo, "literary language"), also called "old writing" (古文 kobun), sometimes simply called "Medieval Japanese" is the literary form of the Japanese language that was the standard until the early Shōwa period (1926–1989). It is based on Early Middle Japanese, the language as spoken during the Heian period (794–1185), but exhibits some later influences. Its use started to decline during the late Meiji period (1868–1912) when novelists started writing their works in the spoken form. Eventually, the spoken style came into widespread use, including in major newspapers, but many official documents were still written in the old style. After the end of World War II, most documents switched to the spoken style, although the classical style continues to be used in traditional genres, such as haiku and waka. Old laws are also left in the classical style unless fully revised.

>The terms 文語 (bungo "written language") and 口語 (kōgo "spoken language") are still used for classical and modern Japanese,[1] respectively. Their literal meanings are only historical, as classical Japanese is no longer used, while modern Japanese is the only current written language, despite its name. These terms are often used in descriptions of grammar to distinguish classical and modern inflections. For example, the bungo inflection of the verb 書く (kaku "to write") is quadrigrade (kaka, kaki, kaku, kake), but its kōgo inflection is quintigrade due to a historical sound change (kaka, kakō < kakau < kakamu, kaki, kaku, kake).

I’ve been talking to this girl for several months now, and it seems that, overall, things have been going well. We talk every day, even if it’s not a lot, she came up to where I’m living for a few weeks to stay, and I go down to Tokyo as much as I can to see her. We’ve both indicated very clearly that we’re looking for something serious. She’s said I’m the first man she’s ever even went on even a date with. She’s 31, if that might impact the way of viewing relationships.
Now, being an American, I’d think it’s safe to assume that we’d be “in a relationship” or “boyfriend and girlfriend”. Of course, I broached the topic a while back, and she said that in Japanese culture, that step is essentially the same as being engaged. To her, we are “友達以上 恋人未満” which seems to translate to some approximation of “more than friends, but not a real couple”.
I thought on that a while, and to my mind and what I’ve experienced in the past, it struck me as odd. So, I figured I may as well try and see if anyone that has experience with dating or marrying Japanese folks could chime in on if that is normal or not.

She either is expecting you to push the relationship to the next level (make plans for marriage and a future together), or she's not really serious herself. It could go either way, but if you have no plans to marry her, then she's probably right about you two being less than lovers.
