When the story has so many holes it looks like swiss cheese...dick riding zun isn't going to change the fact that his lore/world is paper thin and hundreds of characters go decades without doing anything storywise. Completely inexcusable since there are other IPs that let the reader ''fill in the holes'' despite having hundreds of books, video games and even movies.

The reality is that ZUN! never cared about the lore and consistency of his characters because he never expected his silly college game dev project to blow up in popularity.

I saw ZUN at a grocery store in Kanagawa yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Eh, like you doing now ne?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Kirin beers in his arms without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Onegai Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the beers and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterensu,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each beer and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

ZUN has written a mountain of books detailing the deeper lore beneath every game and manga he has released so far, he just keeps it to himself so fans can have fun interpreting the world of Gensokyo. He's very similar to Tolkien.

Sounds pretty legit, I made a bunch of fantasy stories in my head and think that putting them on paper might do that or that I don't know enough to specify x things of the story. It's fun to make incomplete stories imo
