How to best study 漢字 and 語彙 for N1? Passed JLPT N2 10 years ago at which point I stopped actively studying Japanese but want to pick it up again. Know ~1100 kanji according to https://jiken.fly.dev/ which I’ve been using a bit. I use spoken Japanese and and am not so worried about listening and grammar.

if you only know 1100 kanji there is no way you have read enough to not get utterly destroyed by the reading portion of the test
i get about 3500 on that test by only answers yes if i know a specific word the kanji is in, and i still run out of time on the N1 reading section so i have to guess/go by gut instinct and usually get some answers wrong

knowing a kanji means you know most if not all of its meanings, its joyo readings at the very last, a bunch of compounds words it is a part of (one for each meaning at the very least), verbs and adjectives it forms the stem of if there are any, and you can handwrite it from memory. if any of the above conditions are not met then you don't "know the kanji", you've "seen that kanji before"
