There isn't really any difference between instant miso and "real" miso other than the scallions, tofu, wakame, etc. Miso is pretty much bean paste, so what difference would it be to buy instant miso packages and a box of the paste? None. The quality of miso varies between brands, of course, but uh... generally, this is all about the same in most grocery stores.

With the scallions, tofu, wakame, and etc-- it's just freezedried. You can cut all these things freshly, but in the end, there really isn't much of a difference.

Miso soup is good to have with meals, but uh... not much is thought of it, just as how rice is commonly eaten everyday.

These things are cheapo, like ramen-level cheapo. If you have to worry about spending money on it, i suggest you GO GET A FUCKING JOB.

>> No.532014

i like miso soup. I wish it wasnt mainly a side dish D:

>> No.532022

It would only be better if it had anthrax dispersed for seasoning.

>> No.532084

It used to be considered important to know how to make good miso. Maybe not these days though.

Sometimes the instant stuff tastes like plastic. And freeze-dried matter tends to end up kind of tasteless.

>> No.532288

>>532084

Yeah, I know what you mean. It all depends though, really. I mean, it's sort of like saying how it's important to make a good-tasting, aromatic croissant at times, but it may be something you eat everyday, and getting one at any old bakery would suffice. With miso, there's really good quality paste, or good tasting home-made paste. Now a days, I just buy a brand that I generally like and KNOW doesn't taste like crap, and it's just fine. The taste of basic miso in my breakfast, and whatnot-- not too important and does just fine.

>> No.532364

>>531991

You wouldn't have that motivational would you?

>> No.532387

Shit. A tub of Miso is like CHEAP, why would you make "instant"?

>> No.532430

>>532387

The small packages in "instant miso" and the miso in tubs aren't that much different, nowadays, as they're preserved either way. The tubs do have a fresher taste, though, but most people probably wouldn't tell the difference in most cases.

Instant miso is pretty much just for really lazy people. All you really have to do is make the effort to cut everything else.

Listen to this guy, the shiro one is better. Most of the time it's even better than what I had in cheap sushi places here in Vancouver. This says alot.
