Actually, no. I used names of my own creation. Coincidentally, they ended up being other things, because it's hard to create a small word with the english alphabet that hasn't been used elsewhere. I interchanged these names. First it was a four letter one. Then a different five letter one. Then a different six letter one. Another different sex letter one. Then it was a five letter one that's actually a real name, but not my own real name, just a real name I thought would be nice as a first name for my Oblivion character and I continued using it. Now I don't use any names, and when I must sign up to places, I use silly names that any old normal could come up with. None of the names I mentioned are Japanese. At least the way I pronounced them. There was actually one name that people thought was a from an anime, I hadn't seen any anime at the time except like sailor moon and dragon ball z. I later did watch that anime. The character isn't one I would name myself after.

I got my first real account on anything when I was 10, which is 10 years ago now. It was my msn address, I still use it today. You can't even spell it in Japanese.

I wasn't really that into Japanese stuff until high school. I read a bit of manga when I was that age, but it was secondary enough to my other habits and I kept my screen name pretty bland. Which isn't to say being a Nintendo fanboy is much better.

AIM didn't exist when I was 13, and outside of usenet, nor did any sort of internet forum.

I do not remember ever using a Japanese related name or alias for anything on a BBS. I think I have used the same name, however, since my BBS days.

-The upcoming US presidential election was George H.W. Bush vs. Bill Clinton.
-The SNES had just come to north america, and so began my vidya addiction.

-President Clinton had just won re-election.

When I was between the ages of 8-13, I didn't even use the Internet, because my mother was strict about that subject. And I am thankful for that.

But I used a Starcraft nick, and anime fandom wasn't on such large scale as it is nowadays so the chance of me or someone else using anime nick was kinda nil back in those days.
