I was your meido.
Earlier today I quit, something I had been thinking for around 2 months now. The pudding raids were the final straw. They were provoked by moot. When I went to him, all he said was that I should leave the board for the day and let you get spammed to death. He doesn't care about this place, and it's frustrating to be the only one trying to do something with no tools at your disposal.

I did my best every day to keep this board in a sort of decent level, but I'm just tired now. Too exhausting for no reward in any way, and absolutely no encouragement from the staff.

I can tell you this because they removed my authentication, I won't be going back to being a janitor. This thread is both burning a bridge and saying goodbye to you, the anonymous I cared for so much. I always came crawling back whenever I saw you getting spammed or raided, it was practically a reflex action by now. I will just be a regular anonymous reporting the spam from now on.

So long everyone, I have no regrets. Good luck until I get replaced, and remember that the whole point of this board is taking it easy. Let the janitors carry the burden of dealing with the shit.

Here's the point where I don't think it is really legit, because sorry to say, our old old janitor, the one at the beginning of the year before he was promoted, etc. had the take it easy mantra. Deleting page upon page of /jp/ was something completely different in itself.

You can see that by observing that sometimes a janitor is up cleaning and some threads that are usually deleted (/a/ crap) are not. Or that QC-san posts remain there even when a janitor is active.

Our "meido" is usually the same janitor because of the pattern and standards he has are always similar, except for some times like I already said.

2) Another janitor that deletes both bad and legit threads and would leave after deleting 1 page of stuff.

If this is true, then this truly sucks.

/jp/'s meido must have been an actual /jp/er. If not, then our meido must have had some increadible insight even though I agree some threads were deleted wrongly sometimes. But that was sometimes compared to the number of times not.

I actually have a rather hard time to believe meido could be easily replaced, it would have to be a real /jp/er..
The board of /jp/ is in truth kind of hard to moderate, you would have to have real /jp/ experience and know the history of the board and stuff.
Because we all know that /jp/ is basically about the things that weren't deemed to be /a/ enough at the time of the split, and the way how these things shaped and merged and was unterpreted during that split.
Without firsthand knowledge it must be really hard to know what is /jp/ or not, that's why you actually have to lurk /jp/ to understand.

I'm not the janitor, but I can see the justification. Persona is widely popular outside /jp/ - people in /a/ and /v/ are both interested in it, and you can talk about it there. Ar Tonelico is much more of a niche thing. I can't remember what VC stands for off the top of my head. WoT is played by a lot of /jp/ regulars, maybe you think they're shitposters all, but it was undeniably played and popular, and the inheritor of the /jp/'s "MMO of the month award."

I wish this went back to 2007, /jp/ was even more radically different back then compared to now.

I just can't remember the details. The heady, early days when the board exploded with vibrant life still trying to find their feet and an attitude to adopt.

One thing I do recall is Gensokyo Man's (and Not Gensokyo Man's) CYOA threads, which if you know /tg/, were Quest threads about a year before Quest threads ever happened. And I remember the shitstorm after they were banned for good.

And I remember SWR coming out and Chiquta Dragonforce.

That's about it really.

And now, after three years the death knell has been sounded and /jp/ will finally collapse in on itself. It's a shame really, I can't say I ever really LIKED /jp/ but I've been visiting it for three years now so there must have been something about it.

Seriously, the only thing working against this particular title is the people involved in making it.
Otherwise it was produced to be, and marketed as, a genuine Galge.
Truth be told, if an obscure company made this, and if it was translated by an obscure group, and made for PC and was more easily pirateable than it already is (it works on an emulator), then no one would have ever questioned it being /jp/.

The difference is here.
Ar Tonelico was always, since the beginning, developed to be, and marketed as, a Galge game with the girls in the focus and having everything revolve around them.
Persona on the other hand? That was made to be an RPG with the gameplay in the focus, and it was marketed as such. The thing with the social thing in that game were on the contrary made to complement the gameplay, not the other way around. The romance part of the social part was also suprisingly small.
This is a fundamental difference.

It's hard to tear myself away from imageboards after over 4 years here, but the current status sure is making it easier.

If you don't feel like making the complete jump from imageboards, I've been hearing that most are moving to /bun/ and tohno-chan. Don't know if I'll follow them. Don't think I can do it again.

Remember when meido stopping visiting because he was trying to clean himself up so he could get a girlfriend? /jp/ was just fine back then.

IMO how the maid removed 12 pages per visit only made things worse. I feel it just made people spam more in order to replace the deleted pages. Then the maid come back to delete that and this cycle would just continue over and over multiple times per day.
