Btw I asked them to cancel 2 figures after Yukari's refund - Chen and Ran for obvious reason because I wasn't that inspired with Griffon anymore. They canceled Ran but refused to cancel Chen. I asked them to cancel it again today, probably will receive a ban-letter soon, since ironically I have only 2 paid orders from them because all my figures were out of stock everywhere and I got them from other shops like Mandarake.
Anyway I didn't plan to add more figures to my collection, so I don't really mind.

As was said in the earlier thread, I'm pretty sure it's all in the way you talk to them - after Yukari came out with all the defects and QC issues and whatnot, I send them a pretty long letter about how I had lost faith in Griffon (overly polite), and they canceled three preorders for me with not even a sideways word.

I think they like hearing from non-Japanese who take the time to follow their standards of decency in human interaction.

Also, should be able to place an order for this pretty soon now, as well as Gift's dubious new Saber Lily. Taiga's a little lewd but I'm still excited - I really like the sculpt. Here's hoping that ques Q doesn't turn out to offer steaming piles of shit like Griffon does.

If you're starting out, I think nendoroids and cheaper figures (such as arcade prizes, like the GODLY misato sega prize) are a good choice. Figmas are a bit flimsier and sometimes more expensive. I'd recommend holding off on scale figures until you are sure you want in on the hobby (you like your nendos, know abit about the manufacturers etc)

What's wrong with buying only two or three scale figures to accompany the rest of your /a/&/jp/ collection and leave it at that?
Figurines are neat, but on average they aren't remotely worth their money. The profit margins are insane.
As long as I don't stumble over a great offer for a character I like, I don't buy any figures at all. €100+ for ordering a figurine my ass. I'm upgrading my battle station instead.

I think so. The Griffon one has the usual QC issues, the Kotobukiya one is alright (I have her myself) but the umbrella is fiddly and the paint job is a bit bland especially on the hair.

I got this Yukari as a painted garage kit(a figure maker friend helped me with the some of the paint job) and I was planning to buy the phat company model to compare the build quality in depth and for fun. But I gave up the phat model. The paint job is awful. The skin is lifeless and the dress is freaking BLUE. Have the painters/project manager ever heard of Yukari? Don't they know Yukari also means Purple/Violet. Have they ever seen the original artwork or even fan art? I refuse to support a company that insults my Godess.

The pic you referenced is the newest pic of LiW Miku. Ever since they displayed the original, they've been making the base smaller and smaller.

Supposedly there is a version that doesn't have the base, and and alternate one that does. Pic related, this was during a live broadcast on NicoVideo a few days after the first display of LiW Miku.

I think & hope that GSC will sell the base separately in the form of extra attachments. We'll just have to wait and see until July 24th!

No, I am going to get her as well despite not having that much good impression of FREEing (they tend to make the oddest attachment systems, I cannot close their Mizuho skirt because the peg refuses to stay in the hole) and having no room ... of course having no room did not stop me from buying 4 figures that arrived today.

Besides having some bland figures, is Griffon at least safe from quality now? Apart from Yukari I haven't been seeing too many cases of bad painting or other bad stuff like part that don't hold/fit. My Flandre from them arrived with no problems whatsoever.

Anyway I'm interested in their Koishi and Satori but I fear not much for their quality, but that better looking and posed figures will come out later. And that damn black base is starting to annoy me now, it doesn't work at all for small characters.

I received her earlier, the quality is really nice. It was kind of a pain to get the wings to stay on after putting her head back on, though. All of my other pre-orders for the month got delayed, which I've come to expect from GSC/Alter.

I can see that, but I'm not sure you could necessarily expect something as one-off as a new statue in this situation-the fact there's an entirely new figure like Roger at all instead of reworks like the Aegis is doing well. I know Nendos are all about dat head, but a completely different body, set of faces and accessories, and differently coloured hair isn't that much of a rehash.

The announcements at the show are the big deal anyways. If they don't show figma Sanya finally I will stab a bitch, there's a pretty good chance Kaiyodo will show more of the Revoltech Muv Luv line, and hopefully there will be more Steins;Gate, IS, and maybe Fate/Zero stuff...

damn skippy. I paint garage kits, and no, i'm not helping you. I'm not turning "my time" into work.

I keep ordering the wrong things it seems. They are either backorders that take eternity to come, or preorders of stuff that then later can't be delivered due to random circumstances.

Mandrake made all the other companies seem like snails, though I do admit that they don't really work with preorders at mandrake so that speeds things up a lot.

Having these limbo items also makes it hard to tell if I should order new things or if some expenses will come soon.

Well that's probably because Amiami is automated. If I ordered something months ago and it comes out tomorrow, I'll probably still get the payment request email and I might be dumb and send them money anyway, so they are just assuring you the money won't need to be paid twice. The problem with e2046 is that it is A. Chinese B. Most of their stuff are recasts of other peoples/companies figs.

You can get some recast WF stuff from them for a decent price because we all know how expensive and hard to find that stuff is. Also, since it is Chinese quality is sometimes of an issue, some of their recasts are good, others not as good (but not bad).

I am somewhat interested in their "antihero" line, basically regular figs (max factory and other companies) but unpainted. Also their "gathering" line which is basically pro painted GKs but in a limited run.

I know some people here have a problem with e2046 because they are basically taking other people's hard work and making tons of copies of them, the original creator gets nothing. To make it even worse (or better for some), say someone buys something from WF and it becomes really hard to find, I mean more than usual. If there's enough popularity, they can send it in to e2046 who will make a mold out of it then send it back to the owner. The owner then gets a certain percent of the profits from the sales of that. That part is I believe what pisses people off the most about e2046.
