Going through Katawa Shoujo now, looking forward to Little Busters and F/SN.

Recently finished Kara no Shoujo - a good VN overall, but true ending was a disappointment. Also, Tojiko dies and I can't change that ; _;.

Oh, and I also managed to (finally) finish Yume Miru Kusuri. Nekoko & Mizuki routes are just "ok", but I left Aeka for dessert and she fucking blew my mind. Easily the best route in the whole game.

We doing a complete list, or just recent history?

Total list:

Katawa Shoujo (just completed that right five minutes ago, came here to exhale)
YMK

Tsukihime
Saya no Uta
Snow Sakura (needed to calm down after Saya)

I... think that's all.

It is relatively short too, and for an average title like this it is a plus.

I personally enjoyed the nurse route the best. The slut route and the sister route were neat too.

Oh, and you should probably know that JAST cut some content off their release (after-stories and such), so the game might feel incomplete at one point or another (like in the... let's call it the hidden girl route).

Harper is fine. He hasn't actually done any thing that bad. And you have to remember it's not like he is the one that comes up with all the legislation. Any one in his party can table things. And his party probably has lots of things they want to do because they are a majority, and Harper has a hard time controlling them all. What is Harper doing right now? Last time I checked he was in Asia trying to strike trade up for us to diversify our economy and make us less US dependent.

The Conservatives are still a better choice than any of the alternatives. Would vote for them again. Anyway, this isn't the place for this discussion so this will be my last comment on the matter.

Just looking at the top page for Material Brave...

70 median, 60 average. Lots of people gave up half way through. 60% of people couldn't fap to it at all. Protag is a manslut. Good art/music. Everything except the scenario is good. Giga mine. Bug that stops you from finishing osananajimi route. Interesting but fails to live up to expectations. Gave up, but might try it again if a patch comes out. "Looking forward to the next one!" Just finished my first run at Material Brave.
Mediocre game, sure the gameplay is good but that's not the first focus I look for in a VN.
The characters themselves were interesting but poorly devevolpled outside of the mc's harem.
The mc himself is weird, he keeps switching between being the generic harem lead and the cool leader so many times I can't gauge him.
The plot is generic jrpg stuff and the final boss... just... ridiculous... I mean what the fuck ? They seriously went into testing, saw the scene and said "Yes, I want the final confrontation to be like this !".
Yes I could accept something like that in a generic eroge but the game took itself really seriously up to that point so it ends up being funny in a really bad way.
Finally the routes are pretty much not there, I feel no reason to replay the game only to have a few different lines of dialogue.
Try it if you're bored and looking for a decent action jrpg, but don't approach it looking for waifus and other VN stuff.

Now starting Friends, going for Mio because Erika is a weirdo, Yui suffers from bipolarism and autism, Cher/Shea/Whatever is the generic ice princess and Yuka sex harrassment is offensive.
Pretty generic so far but after MB that's exactly what I need.

Yeah, from what I could follow the mc was influeced by enigmatite as an embryo so he become the KING and thus able to control other neoplasm at his leisure, but the scientist came with a plan to use his powers to make all humankind ascend to a step futher than being unleash and to prepare for that they split the KING's heart/soul and created Ena the QUEEN, but the he was taken away by one of the scientists, and other stuff I didn't really follow, the plot is stupid anyways.
Then Ena gets minraped by the WILL of the island, which is the inherent instinct of the enigmatite to evolve everything it touches because don't ask, into going MINNA SHINEEEEE and you get a weird transformation with her voice going slow-mo aaaaaaaannnnnchaaaaannnnn, laughed so fucking hard at that, then I've put down my controller and realized I've wasted about 20 hours of my time for the story to come to that.
Also judging from the choices and the omake section I'd guess she has a true route but no CG scenes, unless they are hidden in the gallery.

Disappointed at the lack of character interaction though but, I guess that's what happens when the heroines were originally onaholes (Unless there's a bunch once a route starts)

>> No.8758391

Why are H-scenes in eroge nearly always so fucking bad. They're called fucking eroge, yet the H-scenes are almost always absolutely horrible.

It seems like once an H-scene rolls around, in 9 out of 10 VNs the heroine loses all personality, the writing loses all quality, the fun and humor vanishes and instead what you end up with is a voice actress doing her best impression of a panicked piglet. It nearly always goes exactly the fucking same too, heroine is a virgin submissive and is in pain but she will endure it because she loves the protagonist oh so much and then screen goes white while heroine screams in ear-raping orgasm. No fucking variation. No two people having fun experimenting with each other for the first time. Just the same thing over and over.

Sometimes you get an H-scene where the heroine actually keeps her personality and the writing is good, but they seem to be so goddamn rare. It's outright bizarre for a genre of games where a large part of the selling point rests on it.

Nukige obviously are better and more varied at this. But if it's an eroge where it's story over sex, the sex scenes will nearly always be complete shit and skipped.

What my autistic rant here is saying is can anyone recommend me a VN where the sex scenes have heroines that retain their personality and they have fun fooling around with the protagonist?

>>8758407
That's bullshit.

It's like saying people who make porn movies in the west never touched a woman, and that's why the porn is unrealistic.

A lack of experience is not the problem. If it was the issue, we'd get a lot of bad scenes, but all of them different, which is not the case. It's just another instance of repeating the established patterns.

And Japanese fucking love their kata.

>> No.8758437

I don't really want want to fap to it, I don't really like fapping at the computer. It's just when the sex scene is actually good and enjoyable to read, it helps in forming the relationship with the heroine and protagonist and developing their characters.

>>8758447
>formalized, standard
This seems to be a big part of it. If anything I'd say I get the feeling that it almost always seems to happen outside of the story instead of being part of the story. Like the sex scenes are from somewhere else, crudely sliced in at certain points. They act like sex is the end stage of romance instead of an important part of it. In most VNs it seems like the entire relationship leads up to that one thing and then the story of the relationship just sort of peters out.

An odd example of something I liked is is Ruitomo. Once Rui and Tomo's relationship starts, they start fucking like rabbits in heat, they both have fun and are very much a young couple in love. It leads to amusing scenes like their friends wondering why the fuck they have suddenly stopped showing up to meetings, or the two barely being able to keep each other's hands off of each other in-front of others. The sex scenes weren't particularly good or realistic or hot or anything like that, but they felt like they were actually part of the characters and story.

You know, I kinda liked the setting, it was generic but it worked and the battle system was entertaining if you're into linear action jrpgs.
But it just drags on and on, nothing happens you really give a shit about, first terrorists, then terrorist' revenge, then robots, then the the WE WERE THE BAD GUYS ALL ALONG obligatory moment. And every goddamn boss is protected by plot armor, and after you kick their ass for the fuckth time and they go OH OH OH I'VE YET TO SHOW YOU MY TRUE POWER/WE'LL MEET AGAIN SAMURAI JACK AHAHAH it gets ridiculous and feels like you're beating team roket over and over again.
And the obligatory story and gameplay segregration, the characters staying immobile as events unfolds like there's a time-stop, the BORING time sink that are the in-between actions you can use before plot progression which probably is to push the player into going full harem even if you don't want to.
The engage system is stupid and a grind-based and not even necessary, I've played on hard and the game was easy.
IF this was a sandbox game, where you have actually freedom of action, kinda like in a dating sim, where you get to chose your partner in the first half by doing dungeons and unlocki events, then you get a different route in the second part, then it would've been fine, but like this it's too linear for the market it's catering to, VNs better point if the flexibility in their story and their creativity and this fails at both.
This is more like Ar Tonelico, a jrpg pretending to be a VN not the opposite, only Ar Tonelico was actually good.

Rather than starting Alma immediately I did a small doujin game called Last Purify
It's about 5 hours long, not voiced but other than that the art/music/special effect are pretty much commercial level..
The story takes place in a dystopia, basically after a world war 3 that decimated most of the world due to the use of nukes, an organization appeared saying that the only road to true peace and equality was for people to discard their humanity, their feelings since without these there would be no conflict.

That organization quickly managed to conquer the world but only once city in the entire world still resist, Tokyo (of course).
The protagonist is a 13 years old boy who lived all his life in that dystopia but somehow managed to drift in Tokyo.

Well just by seeing the synopsis you can see where the story is going and for sure it doesn't go in a direction you wouldn't expect but it's done pretty competently, the writing won't win any award but it flows well.
There are 2 endings, first time around there are no choices and the game end in a pretty utsuge way but the second time unlocks choices and a happier ending.

All around it's pretty good, in the 8/10 range.
It's also free which is always nice

>Sumaga is really good but the second half it just... falls down and starts going a bit overboard and mostly treats the heroines as fucktoys.
It didn't seem to have a sane story to begin with judging from reviews. It is Nitroplus so it doubt it will be a waste of time as Nitroplus is the best game company on average. The heroines are fappable so I can bear it.

>Eustia is good but craps itself in the last chapter and leaves you a bitter aftertaste.

Well, the later parts of the game are kind of like a big middle finger to the three main heroines who make up the title. If you liked them a lot, you'd probably be disappointed by the later stages of the game, where Spica and Garnet literally lose 100% of their personality (though Mira still occasionally does some awesome shit later on in the game). That said, it's not like the later parts are bad. It just focuses on different characters. The game really wouldn't have any sort of ending if it didn't change focus to Arided and other spoilerific characters at the end.

Mira's route had that teeth pulling section where he tried to date multiple girls at once. It was like I was watching an 80s/90s sitcom.

In fact that was the entire problem with the game. It felt like it was putting in a bunch of painful and unenjoyable cliches on purpose, but just because you put them in on purpose doesn't stop them from being painful and bad.

Like, when you look back after you finish the entire game and see what the entire point of it was, you can say "Oh, well that's neat" but the actual process of playing through it is pretty painful.

I've already mentioned it here before but the eroge 僕と、僕らの夏 has a route where 2 "pursuable" heroines, including the main who is also a childhood friend, actually get together fully.
It was really well developed with a good amount of scenes and even a good ending.
And it was pretty satisfying seeing them forget the protagonist because they were too busy fucking the everliving out of each others, especially since the protagonist was pretty dull, and probably the biggest flaw of the game.
Though I guess calling him the protagonist is a bit much considering he narrates only about 30% of the game.

the kind of atmosphere the game will have wasn't really that apparent yet in the trial. the normal world had pretty light atmosphere to it but its apparent that theres something going behind the scene, and the other world had nicely creepy atmosphere to it. as for the protagonist, he seems to fall more on the good guy scale, although in preview CGs you can see him raping stuff, so there more to him than the trial lets to out, also because its said tha you can ally yourself with the angels/demons (which you don't actually meet yet in the trial as it ends probably just before you meet them for first time) so its given that he changes a bit somewhere along the line when he meets them.
