Your message was perhaps one of the strangest pieces of email I have ever received. Although it is flattering to have a 「fan club」, in fact, it is a very bad idea. Unlike most of human society, doujin culture is based on the idea that each of us is capable of evaluating evidence and thinking on our own. Each of us can program a game, compose music, and design art for ourselves. There is no room in doujin for 「fans」 representing group approval over individual thought. One of my heros, Galileo, put it very well:

In questions of art, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.

I am pleased to talk with people about matters of writing and video game design, so you and your colleagues may certainly send me mail. I hope to learn as much from your experiences as you may learn for me. But please get rid of the 「cult of personality」 way of thinking. It is unartistic and ultimately destructive.

Did you mention in your email his fans would give him offerings of alcohol?

Does anyone actually read SICP?

>> No.9121750

>>9121734

Yes, sometimes I sit by a window and read my copy of SICP, pretending to be one of the more withdrawn touhous, e.g., Alice or Patchouli.

>> No.9121763

OP here. I was just trying to begin an argumented and civilised discussion about the fact that ZUN wants to inspire his fans into creating their own games and universes and not just into recycling and adding to the giant ball of mud that is the Touhou Project.

The /g/ emails aren't copypasta, but screenshots which you can find if you ask. It's in demotivational format and says "the day 90% of /g/'s questions were answered"
