who the HELL has lights on at any time

I used to keep them off at all time

After a few years of being on the computer 16 hours a day, my eyes started to hurt more and more -- making me want to sleep more to "recover" because I had nothing else to do, and the vision on my right eye became poor.

By just leaving the lights on, the pain went away no matter how long.. but my right eye still sucks.

Lunatic mode for sure, holy fuck.
I'd see the little specks of light out of the corner of my eye and reflexively prepare my character to dodge.

She makes the "Patchy has hips!" threads. Then she masturbates furiously while reading our praise comments towards her healthiness.

And I play with the lights on, I don't want to damage my eyes anymore.

That's an old wives' tale.

My cartoons tell me to sit in a lit room a reasonable distance away from the screen. They wouldn't have to put the message there if it wasn't real.

>And I play with the lights on, I don't want to damage my eyes anymore.
I thought this wasn't actually true. I can't find any medical journal which states this is true and I recall my optometrist telling me there is no evidence of it being true.

I've been using a computer 18 hours a day for 22 years. They don't hurt and my vision is 20/20.

>> No.9697165

If it's daylight, curtains open to let sunlight in. Night, lights on. Whether or not it damages my eyes, I don't care -- I've been almost legally blind since I was a child anyway. The brightness just hurts, even if I turn it down all the way.

Playing in a dark room puts a very noticeable strain on your eyes. I can't say it hurts them but it definitely strains them so I can see why people play and watch stuff with the lights on.

>> No.9697175

>>9697147
Someone already debunked that myth.

Basically, first General Electric TVs had an issue with radiation emission, so they told everyone to keep a distance from the screen, because it was actually harmful.

They fixed it, but your mom probably still believes "the evil ultraviolet light coming from that evil box" will burn your eyes.

Mine does, and we're not even American, and we've never had a General Electric TV before.

>> No.9697182

>>9697170
Yeah, they cause strain on your eyes if you're one of those people who have their screens with the retina-burning default brightness and contrast level and if you don't blink or take frequent breaks.

That's why I have my monitor on 0 brightness and 20 contrast.

You stupid fucking faggot. Light source in dark room = eye strain.

>>9697182
1. Nobody takes breaks or blinks on /jp/.
2. Turning the (room) light on is objectively better.

I agree that backlights are retarded, though. I always turn them to their lowest setting.

>> No.9697219

>>9697210
I never said anything about light source in a dark room, I was commenting on the "keep a reasonable distance from the screen" myth.
