Overall I would say VLR is better as a whole, but 999 has the better twist and ending.

Yes, all PSP are fully hackable. The only difference is that some models have to launch a bootloader before they launch a game(just as easy as launching any other game, just an extra step that older models can have permaloaded)

They are still both good "games", but you can only get the wtf revelation once.

Overall I think every17 was a little better conceinved in its plot, but 999 had the interesting idea of the numbers and the puzzle games.

As to what? Why VLR is better?

I just felt that it got me interested in the story and characters a lot better than 999 did. I didn't enjoy 999 until I did the true end.

I somehow got ahold of some money and I'm debating whether to buy some handheld.

the Vita didn't really pick up as the adv port console yet and there aren't any "console buyer"-tier games out yet as far as I'm concerned
3DS I would have to import since the game I'm intersted in didn't come over yet, but at the same time I'm not big on spending 30%ish more just because I can't play them if I buy it here

Is that a general thing? I thought about getting either the Vita (although it doesn't seem to be getting any localizations, the only thing I'd buy right now would be P4G, the rest doesn't interest me) or a 3DS. Since I never had a DS I could use it to emulate DS games and 3DS games in the future. It seems to have a better future ahead than anything Sony at the moment.

So anyways, I'm wondering if I might be better off importing an American 3DS because I'm somewhat paranoid about the European one not getting enough releases.
