Today's blog
I'm starting to feel out of touch with the board. There are so many talented, intelligent and overall amazing people posting in here. Some posts I've read have blown me away because they were so funny and creative. The hard science students in grad school, translators, musicians and programmers make me feel like I don't belong. Yes, I'm jealous, rotten and lazy, but I need a place like Lilliput where I can feel more at home.
So I made a depression thread in /b/, and I had a nice conversation with a 27 year old man who flips burgers for a living. He told me how much he hates himself and regrets all the bad choices he made because he doesn't have any hobbies, his job is tiring and he has very little free time. I'm much younger and I don't work, but I can relate because I'm not doing anything with my life either. I'm not even sure why I left that board in the first place. Has anyone here considered going back to the cradle?

That feel when I was invited to a party today by my personal Obi-Wan at work. It's on saturday.
I'm 21 years old and have never to a party. I've only gone out twice in my entire life and that was just with one friend.
I'm freaking out due to the fact I know I have to go because the people who are there also work at the same place I do and will be insulted. I am astronomically fucked.

On the non-shitposting side of the spectrum, I'm trying to decide which tea to order from yuuki-cha. I keep checking for a tea thread on /jp/, but I haven't seen one in forever. I'm familiar with sencha and will likely go with that just so I can start regularly drinking tea again, but I want to eventually branch out into the other types.

I also need to practice my STGs and do my reps(although it's been years since I've done Kana, so I'll most likely have to relearn those as well), but haven't due to the fact that I can't get jack shit done without a planned schedule.

As pathetic as this sounds, is there some kind of /jp/ approved planner that I can start using?

>> No.10169820

There have always been two types of NEET. One seems genuinely happy and content living a life with a dim future and minimal social interactions.

The other is pretty much the opposite in that they long first and foremost for social interaction. Most everything in their life is governed by their desire for interaction. Following that they would like a promising future, which usually means worrying about entering schooling or training of some sort eventually in the future. Finally, they're discontent with the labels society has put on them and would like to change their lives for the "better".

Disgusting people, that second group. They really are the lowest of the low. Especially all the people here wanting to get a job, longing for friends outside and being depressed about their NEET lifestyle. Just die already if you are so sad about your NEET life.

If I'm just a NEET, sure. I've been in that state before. But if I attempt to get government assistance for my depression/whatever else the shrinks think I have, I think it would reflect poorly on me.

>> No.10172256

I've been pondering all the factors in my life that I am sure the NEET/Hikki community can understand. I call this subject Hikikomori Theory. I'm just gonna type out brief speculations.

Boredom is a symptom of an unsatisfying lifestyle. If it is ever possible for you to be bored doing your daily routine, then you need to think about why you are bored because you are doing something wrong. Why is it that your daily routine does not have enough things to engage and stimulate you?

Motivation is an interesting topic of discussion. What causes a "lack of motivation"? You obviously have energy to spend on whatever, you spend energy to walk around, go to the washroom, just about do any task. You have energy, yet this energy is not being directed at something you deem productive. Why is that? Lets take a hypothetical situation to better understand this: You want to improve a skill, yet the thing you need to do to get better is boring and you dont get immediate satisfaction from it. You can either do that skill, or go masturbate and browse the internet. If the situation was like that for every person, no one would do the boring skill grind. But obviously people have skills and they did do the skill grind, so what happened? How could they do it? Where is the motivation? Allow me to introduce terminology, Push/Pull factors, and positive/negative emotional results. Skill grind has a push factor, it's boring; when something is boring, there is a negative emotional response. Internet has a pull factor, it's immediately satisfying and you usually get some positive emotions from it.

>> No.10172261

>>10172256
Now let's boil this down to a survival situation: you are starving and you need to eat or else you will die. You have a gun and the only thing to eat is a really cute cat. Now if I gave you the option between shooting a cute cat, or not shooting one, you'd obviously not shoot it. Why would you want to have the negative feeling of killing an innocent animal that you have emotional connection to? But what if I told you that you needed to kill and eat that cat or else you'll die? Now you have motivation to kill the cat. You dying is more of a pull factor for you to do an action than the push factor of you feeling bad for killing a cute cat.

Apply this to the skill grind: where is the pull factor for you to actually do it? Is your life in danger? Will you feel negative repercussions for not doing it? What push/pull factors are there in your decision making, whether or not to expend energy into that action?

Intellectual discourse is welcome.

It's merely a hypothetical to explain a concept. You can substitute it with anything. One action causes negative repercussion by itself, but if you don't do it, an even bigger negative repercussion happens. Now you have motivation to do something you wouldn't have normally done.

I find that I'm rarely bored when I'm on my own, but with other people I get bored quite frequently.
I've simplified my lack of motivation to me not doing the things I dislike doing. If they're not important enough and I don;t like doing them, then why do them? Understandably I procrastinate a ton on many things and when I tell people about my lack of motivation, they misjudge it as a phase of teenage rebellion

The only thing that motivated me in school was keeping up academically with my comparatively normal fraternal twin brother. Now that he's going to school out of state and I'm still floundering in community college, I have no motivation left, so I'm probably going to drop out next semester. I also feel like I've already squandered all my most impressionable years learning useless shit, and that it's too late to get really good at something, so why bother?

That was one of the things, allow me to recount:

1. The hall was packed so I went into the back looking for a place to stand. I tripped over someone's foot and they glared at me, people looked. Then I stood at the back but the lady sitting there told me I was in the way so I left the hall and watched from the door.

2. A baby started making this noise really suddenly and it gave me a fright, I've always hated loud noises. I looked around at the baby and its mother glared at me as if I had punched it or something.

3. I didn't understand funeral protocol so I turned up late to the burial and everyone stared at me. I wasn't aware that it was the done thing to go to the burial after the funeral, so I had driven half way home when I thought to check the funeral outline sheet and realised I was meant to go there.

There were a few other things too. My hands were shaking and I think people noticed and thought I was strange.

I'd say I'm okay. Probably not okay by society's standards but I don't really mind. My lifestyle so far has kept me moderately happy and I enjoy myself. I'm single with very few friends, who I haven't seen for weeks I might add, and I spend most of my time by myself. If I spend too much time around groups of people, I find myself wanting to go home. I had a girlfriend once and that didn't end very well at all, both my fault and hers. The scary thing is that it seems like I was subconsciously driving her away. Introverted to a fault I guess.
