A bit of explanation for the word centaur, for anyone who cares.

Centaur comes from the words cento (to sting) and tauros (bull). Bull-stinger. That's why "centaur" or the suffix "-taur" doesn't apply to anything else.

There are multiple theories as to how that name stuck. One is that someone saw a certain tribe whose shepherds, historians later said, would ride on horseback and sting their bulls with sticks to drive them back to the herd. Another is that they saw a group of riders shooting arrows at bulls. There are others, but it generally has to do with men on horseback, doing some sort of stinging aimed at bulls, being mistaken for actual horse-men.
