The latter. SS uniforms and German opera for the rule of cool.

Nazism, 2nd world war politics, holocaust and such only get briefly mentioned and they don't really play that big of a role in the story apart from giving some sort of a background. Pretty much all of the villains' motivations come from personal goals rather than some united love for the Reich.

Just finished 恋する少女と想いのキセキ. The writing was shitty but the overall plot about dolls' lifeforce being powered by thoughts/feelings was interesting. Personally, I wished the story covered more of the protagonist's life as a 人形遣い because those were the most interesting parts.

Also, I didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed that they didn't draw dolljoints on the doll heroines.

I am planning on beginning IM Verita these days, is there a recommended route order? Normally I'd like to save the best for last, but from what I gathered, finishing certain routes first grants specific bonus characters. Should I save when the routes branch and come back later, or is starting over from the beginning the preferred course of action?
What is the deal with the extra stories?

>> No.11975616

>>11975598
I'd recommend starting over every time, it's a lot easier to go through the game again when your characters are properly leveled and with good skills.
For route order you can go as you see fit as they only really diverge during the last chapter, so either do true history last or between light and dark routes. If you go light->true->dark1/2 you get all the extra characters.

I finished Peace@Pieces a few days ago.

It was of passable quality, at least. All of the characters are relatively likable. Hell, even the protag Hisato is a huge donkan yet still bearable.

The writing has a quite a few flaws however. The common route is ridiculously long, repetitive, and the pacing is on par with a slug, making it obnoxious on multiple playthroughs. The common route takes up 3/4ths of the entire story. The story is incredibly Hikaru-centric, and Nagi's route is basically a copypasta of Hikaru's route with the appropriate changes and events here and there. Homare's, Anzu's, and Maririn's individual route(s) are godsends compared to the main girl's routes, however.

Towards the beginning of the story there is plenty of humor, but when the reader steers into the girl's routes, drama and PLOT TWEESTS start developing. The past life drama in Hikaru and Nagi's routes were pretty boring. Anzu/Angelikas'[/spoiler] route has a heartbreaking conclusion, the ending of Maririn's route is fucking golden, and Homare's is the sweetest route because Hisato DOESN'T "die" and transform into Iblis, and proposes to his childhood friend in the end..

>> No.11978418

11978418

>>11978413
However, Peace@Pieces should have been named Peace@Plotholes because there are quite a few. First, not even Death-sensei noticed that Iblis was lying dormant inside of Hisato's soul. Seriously, what a fucking facepalm-worthy animu cliche. In Anzu's route it's never explained how she survived the Void and how she could create an alternate universe where she and Hisato are brother and sister. Last but not least - unless I misunderstood it - Hikaru's backstory is convoluted as hell. Apparently she was a tulpa created by Nagi/Ren, but it turned out it was the evil Iblis who granted Ren's wish to have a best tomodachi, and Hikaru was apparently adopted????? by Homare's ancestors. Hikaru's real last name is Takanashi, making her and Homare distant non-blood related cousins.

The lack of consistent writing quality makes me think this VN was written by another writer every chapter or two, and the method they used was by picking names out of a hat. Some of it is good, and some of it is awful.

Itou Noizi's art shines brilliantly in this VN and fits the mood and theme of the story perfectly. The sprites have multiple poses and are very expressive. The CGs are pretty good bar some anatomy issues, particularly in the HCG.

As for the voice acting - it was excellent. The seiyuu definitely captured the emotion of their respective characters in dramatic scenes. Nagi's and Maririn's voices in particular were fantastic, although the latter was inherently meant to be annoying as shit.

The soundtrack is overall solid, but the overuse of the same upbeat tracks over and over again in the common route was quite agitating at times.

Final verdict: A solid 7 out of 10. Worth reading the entire way through for the rollercoaster ride, but Peace@Pieces has way too much flaws to be considered perfect.

No, the greyed out choice is for her true end. You unlock it after completing her normal ending. I believe you can go for the heroines in any order, but leave Setsuna's Closing Chapter route for last of course.

Koharu and Mari only have a single ending. Setsuna has a CC ending and a coda one, Kazusa has a coda normal and coda true end. I actually just finished Kazusa's true end recently, and have still got to read Setsuna's coda route.

I didn't care for Setsuna too much before reading her CC route, but after it she has became my favourite heroine.

I also know how you feel about not caring to do Chiaki's route, I wasn't too bothered about her either, but I would say her route is the best of the sub-heroines. Koharu is still my favourite sub-heroine, though.

Thanks for the info.
Might start with Mari's route, been a while since I read anything with an 'older' heroine.
Also, if you can tell me without spoiling anything, are the 'normal' ends tragic, and the latter 'true' ends happy, or at least bittersweet?
Or perhaps it's the other way around?

>> No.11982297

>>11982287
I would say all of the ends have a tint of bittersweetness to them (or at least all of the ones I have read, seen somebody complaining that Setsuna's coda ending is too disney-happy).

I would say that Chiaki's normal end is just sort of "there", for you to finish in order to see her true route after. In the case of Kazusa's, it feels like a legit ending on its own right. I think it even has a continuation on the PS3 version, so I might give that a read since I'd quite like to find out what happens after.

Like in Koharu's route you never know about the concert or that Kazusa was in Japan, but you do know about the concert in all the other routes.. I really love me some world building.
So in the end, Louie was the "boy of the prophecy."
If I interpreted it correctly, IM's world is an agglutionation of our world in a near future, where we have depleted most natural resourced, with a "fantasy" world, from where the other species and new gods came. And the magician Bread created all the demonic races, including the majin. Have I missed anything? Also, where does Hashiera fit in this, since she's supposed to be a majin but on zero she also seems to have appeared in the "first world" before the two came together.

I really hope they won't fuck up this time. I mean how did they menage to fuck up TE that badly anyway?! The anime-original first 2 episodes were great and exactly what one would expect from the series, so it's not like they can't do it when they want to...

Because the story was rewritten repeatedly over several years as the length and format changed and then the actual production of the game was rushed to shit to the extent they're redoing the CGs for PC to make them not so halfassed.

This is also a thing.

Started playing pic related someone recommended to me a while ago.
I was originally only interested in the M refined shy black haired beauty, but looking at the heroine profiles all of them seem pretty interesting, even the serious doujo girl I usually dislike.
It's also pretty refreshing to finally be the butler that can defeat a bear with one hand while pouring tea with the other.

I remember reading it a little while ago when a trip back in December recommended it to somebody asking for a sadist protagonist/masochist heroine route, 雪小路 詩綾's route was rather enjoyable; sadly i don't really remember much about the other routes.

Nice game with all the economics and intrigue, but by the second part it seemed too long and stretched out for me. Hajime is a great protagonist versed in both etiquette and battle skills... But he is too donkan. I actually like donkan protagonists, but by the split into Shiaya, Nanami and Hana personal routes he just went overboard with that. Also, it's my own pet peeve, but he doesn't have a face in some CG. Disgusting.

Shiaya is also overboard with her secret. She all the way into the マジ引く level. I mean, she draws doujins where Hajime fucks her younger brother Shion. And the whole reason she fell for Hajime initially, and that marriage proposal trip to Europe... I didn't like her route that much in the end.
