How can I learn the basics of the Touhou "lore"?

As in who's who and what to whom?
Anime? Game? Novel?

Watch all the animes and read all the mangas. Don't bother playing the games, they're not even cannon.

I like when I can ruin /jp/'s day by helping someone they were bullying, so here it is.

1. Play the windows games while reading the dialogues
2. The the wiki entries for every character you met through the game
3. Read the spell card and music comments of the game you've completed
4. Once completed every game go read the official written works by order of release (you can find them on the wiki). Keep in mind "Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth" is more of a joke than canon material so you shouldn't take it seriously, while only the text story written by ZUN in "Seasonal Dream Vision" is considered canon in that collection
5. Listen to the Music CDs and read their comments and the story they come with
6. Play the PC-98 games and do the same research you did with the windows ones.
7. Go to ZUN's page on the wiki and read the "ZUN talks" section, it has little interesting info it hasn't been released anywhere else.

Unless I'm missing something now you can be smug and correct secondaries that make stupid Touhou theories because you know what you're talking about.
