I used a tango deck on my first attempt and I prefer 2k/6k simply because having a full sentence on screen makes me memorize the shape of the sentence not the actual kanji. I just wish the 2k/6k deck had a better selection of words and had them structured less schizophrenically

If you meant that to me, then I'm not sure we are talking about the same deck. The description of mine (AJT JP1K) was pic related in >>44796253 and nothing else. I do try to get the reading correctly before revealing it, but while reviewing, my deck tells me that getting the meaning is how you grade yourself with good or bad.

I'm doing grammar studies separately with CureDolly everyday. I'm not doing forced immersion yet (watching without subs/with japanese subs) since I was told it wasn't recommended on the beggining stage. I do of course still consume media and try to read kana and kanji everyday though. But I haven't memorized a single Kanji yet except some very basic ones. Like the other anon said, Tatsumoto is being my guide for now. But I feel that I got baited.

i dont even get the issue you're having. what are you even complaining about? the deck should be structured so that all the vocab that appears in the sentences are words that you have been introduced to, and so all you do is just read the sentence aside from the highlighted word, guess what it is, show answer, you now have the correct reading and now you can use your knowledge on basic grammar and previous vocab to surmise the full sentence...

it's a slow process and the most difficult in the entire course of learning the language (unless you do some very stupid shit later on), but to me it wasn't that frustrating. oh, i thought you were questioning more so the format of sentence vs vocab cards. a method i recommend that could help memorize the reading is editing the card type and adding the "type:" command to it, so you can get a text box to type out the answer (in this case, the kana reading.) so long as you're not a slow typer, this doesn't add much time to your anki reviews at all, while still instilling better recall because it utilizes your muscle memory as well, that extra level of interactivity could help.

if that isn't to your liking or doesn't work, you really do have to work it out on your own, its your brain you know you best. you CAN try different card formats, or isolated kanji but i doubt they'd help most especially studying it in isolation. since you no longer have an attached vocab word to help memorize it, so you're gonna have to remember many different readings per kanji/card.

In that order, its not that hard when you realize its basically symbolism and you think of each particle as the symbol. For example when you add leg (sort of a move verb) kanji to the eye kanji it becomes "Look."

Although not many natives even master the JLPT to level 1, most stop around 3. Kanji also work as context clues to words that are being pronounced so they don't need guess the meaning in context like us gaijin need to.

I don't think there's much you can do without maybe medication?
Assuming you can't stop the ADHD though, my recommendation is to just take advantage of it and push yourself harder during the hyperfocus months.
If you know that no matter what, you're gonna lose steam and burn out in a few months, there's no need to take things at a steady pace, do fucking 100 cards a day in anki, force yourself to immerse for 12+ hours a day, things like that.

Then repeat this every few years and each time it will get easier until you reach the tipping point where you can just keep doing Japanese forever.

1 is correct, but 2 is wrong. Getting the "flow" of Japanese conversation is just some pseudo-science BS he came up with to justify his lack of comprehension. Pausing and rewinding are critical if you actually want to improve your listening. Trying to catch only the parts you understand is why people's listening is so poor.

The rest is just memorization, but the actual comprehension part starts on a grammatical level.
