I'm halfway through chapter 3, and so far, it's pretty good.
The VN is about two twin sisters who participate in a ritual where they brutally fight until one of them loses consciousness. The winner of the fight can choose to steal a body part from her sister that she is missing, and the rituals continue until they have no more parts to steal. So far, the motivation for why they fight is to become normal girls, but it's still ambiguous how the sisters lived before reaching this point. In addition to the fights there are SOL moments where one of the sisters spends the day living with one of the two hosts of the ritual. These parts show how the female MC is adapting to her new world and how she is becoming more intimate with the strange person she lives with, and they're generally super comfy and entertaining. Plus, Kikyou is super fucking cute.

It's kinda sad that I have my finals next week, because otherwise I would have spent my whole day reading this

I can't think of a single scene in CC that gives more catharsis after knowing the events of the novels that take place before it. With potential fatigue of the drama being the main point of concern that can ruin someone's experience, i don't think adding content, that personally is far below the main game in terms of quality, just before the (intentionally) monotonous part of the main game isn't a good play. Remake has really weird tone changes even within itself because Nasu locked the near-finished script away entirely for several years to focus on the fucking gacha game before digging it back up to have one more go at it and finish what was missing
What I'm trying to say that 80% of it is a really good updated version of the original routes and 20% of it reads exactly like his modern FGO chapters
He's also already talked about how he has no real clue on how to handle some of the themes present in the missing routes within a console game that will be released in 20XX and will just have to see how it goes.
Even if he doesn't fuck up part 2, I'd still recommend reading the original first. I wouldn't say it has better writing, but its just trying to tell a story without constantly trying to impress the reader.

The problem is that modern commercial companies in the English market of both anime and eroge translations were formed by translators who for one reason or another hated those weebs who threw a stink back in the 00's and the 10's, and those translators have basically gone on personal vendetta to force as much localization into the weeb market as they could possibly get away with. And nowadays those translators are pretty much total gatekeepers of the commercial market.

It doesn't help that modern formal translator education basically dictates that a translator should localize as much as possible, should censor and edit work to fit not only formal laws of the target market but also to fit its formal and informal culture, otherwise their works will be considered cultural appropriation and that will be very bad.

Depends on the game, the scene and mainly how good the music is. I've had vanilla scenes ruined by bland elevator background music. I've had fetish scenes ruined by romantic sounding music. Imouto nukige scenes ruined by Dragon Quest BGM. Sometimes a track is so generic and inoffensive that it doesn't work and other times they use a really upbeat track you'd think wouldn't fit at all but it gets me going.

In my experience the worst offenders for bad H BGM are string and piano centred tracks, and the best H BGM tend to be jazz or lounge style. Techno is usually a good fit and rock BGM is so-so. Generic background music requires good composition.

I think you misunderstood me because I agree with you. I have nothing against bland, inoffensive or barely noticeable H music. I don't need full blast action in every scene and especially not in romantic vanilla scenes. My problem are offensively drab tracks that stick out. When a scene takes longer than 10 minutes to read and it sounds like I'm idling in a church in DQ I get turned off and want to finish the scene ASAP. Usually I see that with string music, very low tempo/rhythm tracks and BGM that wants to evoke a "dreamy" mood.

Look at feng's Seiiki series. There are 2 tracks for H scenes.

It makes me sleepy and bored in an H scene. This music would work in a kiss or confession scene or anything not an H scene. It's criminal to have this when the other track worked perfectly for H. I felt tempted to replace the 2nd for the 1st BGM.
