I just got gone with one route in Sharin no Kuni. I actually have it on skip in another window as we speak so I can get to the other endings.

Incredibly long. Sharin no Kuni feels slow. Very slow and dreadfully long don't mix very well. I liked the music at the start, but it wore on me by the end to the point that I wanted to turn it off. Don't get me wrong, I loved the VN. Would read again.

... Still, it was missing something. There's something that wasn't there that really didn't trigger something inside of me that screams "this is such a great VN!" - I wouldn't put it in such high regard.

Was there something I missed? Why is everyone in this thread loving that VN so much?

What? I'm just telling the truth. If you think Sharin was at all long, visual novels aren't a very good medium for you since a lot of them are much, much longer.

Sharin is only about 1.7MB of pure text. F/SN is 3.9MB, Clannad is 3.3MB, Tsukihime is about 3MB, Ever17 is probably around 2.5MB, Majikoi is 3.9MB, etc.

Well, alright... the odd part was that I read fate/stay night and enjoyed it quite a bit. It didn't 'feel' long, because every inch of Shirou's life is pretty much full of action. Except for breakfast/dinner/etc, but even then it's not all that intrusive / repetitive.

Sharin no Kuni has everything. Sad tears, happy tears, comedy, drama, good characters, twists, fuck yeah moments, healing and character growth, social commentary, all wrapped up in an interesting plot. I can't think of any other eroge that does so many things so well. That's why I love it so much.

People just have different tastes and sometimes you won't like something as much as everyone else seems to. For example most people in this thread really like Symphonic Rain, which I thought was decent but can't really see what apparently makes it so great. Makes me feel like I missed out on something, but that's life. I just accept it and move on.
