You're not a hikki, you're just a lame highschool dropout.
Go finish school already.

Just like 90% of /jp/!
Seriously though, why do people brag so much about being NEET/Hikki and stuff recently ? It's not really something to be proud of.

/jp/ wishes to live in their room watching anime and playing the vidya all day.
So they pretend they do so, on the internet.

It's always been like that. Ironically or not.

The truth behind this is, we used to have a reasonably large (but still a minority) group or said hikkis/NEETS. They've mostly moved on by now (or killed themselves/got kicked out), but since the last few heavy migrations here it's become something of a standard, saying "I've been here awhile" or that they "belong" here, in an attempt to contrast themselves from more obvious outsiders. Since then it's become something of poor form to say you live otherwise. You could call it a meme at this point, and you wouldn't be entirely incorrect. Though there are a good deal of people living here with their parents, it's unlikely they make large attempts to avoid them, suggesting they have a rather average home life.

Excellent.
Game design is pretty much the way to go if you have ideals along those lines. No matter how successful you get, only three people in the world will seriously view you as anything but a failure at life.

Well... maybe two in the foreseeable future since sadly Mr.Chomsky is starting to get old and nobody seems fit to take his place. But anyway.

>> No.6991036

Hikki is a condition unique to Japan. I'm just glad I don't have to put up with the same kinds of bullshit anyway. I might live alone and never leave my room, but the circumstances won't be quite as bad.

It could be proven, but only tentatively.

Such is the nature of an imageboard, really. But there is some substantial evidence amongst the archives, and some rather inspirational literature to be found in the search.

Good point. They can't have any kind of status because they're not a part of organized society.

>> No.6991570

Status symbols aren't entirely decided by the general population i.e retard normals call "society". Normals barely even know what society means let alone, how society works. Among the degenerates on /jp/ NEET is a status symbol. Learn what you're talking about you stupid normal.

>> No.6991586

I was only a hiki for a year, but it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I dropped out of college and spent maybe 14-16 months locked in my apartment before moving back with my family.
I have no idea how can hikis cope. i had so much free time that I just couldn't enjoy it. I spent 20 hours a day browsing imageboards and playing videogames and didn't have any fun. I was so bored I could spend whole hours pacing around the room thinking about my whole life, how could I let this happen, where did things go wrong, I wish I had a time machine, etc. A full year of this made me wish I was dead. I felt like one of those red gelatin things from Utawarerumono.

to any hikis browsing atm, good luck with whatever your projects are, don't lose hope and keep trying (in case you don't enjoy your lifestyle. I know some hikis do)

I've been a hikki for 9 years now.
But I hate people so it's ok.

>> No.6991979

Might as well join this self-pity thread with my story.

Have been a NEET for 3 years, although I don't know if I can call myself that by it's very original definition. I'm just taking a break from school, a long one at that. After I graduated I convinced my parents to let me take a gap year, which some how I managed to stretch out for 2 more years. I know soon I will have to go back, although I will never be mentality prepared for that.
