Well, kind of. Usually I'd wait for someone else to make a thread and hijack that, but it's taken too long. I guess no one cares about Aya anymore, which is not surprising. "Banned" from voice acting and making music? Yeah, right. Maybe if she stopped choking on dicks and being unconscious afterwards all day, she would get some actual work done. It makes me mad when I watch honest and hardworking idols like Maeda Atsuko try their best (even to the point of neglecting their own health) in order to bring a smile to everyone's faces after the disaster, while this whore has nothing better to do than to act like a little princess on Twitter.

I'm still happy with it (apart from the constant need to recharge it). Layton turned out to be a longer game than I thought it would be, too. Almost 20 hours played and not even 50% done. At this rate, I won't even be able to finish it before OoT3D comes out.

In other news, I have been messing with MeGUI again for the past few days after not having touched it since we last talked about it (almost 2 years ago, I think). This time, apart from having no clue what the hell I'm doing as always, I'm really determined to create 60fps encodes of all my IVs. Anyway, I stumbled upon this neat deinterlacing script called QTGMC. Needless to say, the results blew me away when I first tried it. It takes a while on my machine (about 4 hours for 1 hour of SD video with the "Slow" preset and multi-threading enabled), but the wait is more than worth it. So now that I'm finally able to produce somewhat-decent looking 60fps encodes, I want to go ahead and give my whole collection this treatment. However, since there are still a few things that confuse me and I want to make sure I'm doing everything right, I'd like to ask you if you could have a quick look at a short 30 second clip I encoded from the intro of Fukasawa Yuuki's "Ceremony" (an IV of one of my favorite gravure idols of all time, it's a shame she isn't more popular and has only released 3 DVDs in total) and tell me if there is something fundamentally wrong with it or if I should improve anything. It doesn't look too bad to me, but your trained eyes see more than mine.

Impressive. Your clip looked fine here and it handled a very difficult test clip of mine with minimal artifacts (none of which were in your clip btw). I'll have to play around with it more tomorrow.

Again, thanks for taking the time. I have one more question though. My anamorphic widescreen DVD encodes get stretched to 853x480 with a 1 pixel wide black bar on the right side when played back. Now I wonder if that's correct because judging by the screencap you posted, your videos get displayed at 852x480 without the small black bar.

Oh, and one more stupid question: 720x480 4:3 encodes get stretched to 720x540 when played back, correct? I mean, it makes sense mathematically, but still... you never know.

Almost done with Catherine's Golden Theater mode (just got the game yesterday after waiting 2.5 months for it to arrive; air mail - never again). Damn, the story is intense...

Yup, Portal 2 and Crysis 2 on the PC side. I'm about 3/4 of the way through P2 right now and I was half-way through C2 before I got my new SSD and redid everything, I've yet to reinstall it. There's a couple of XBLA/PSN games I'm trying to finish too... but probably won't.

I also played through most Oot in stereo recently as well, while it looked fine for the most part (several cut scenes were excellent in 3D), it wasn't enough to get me exited for the proper 3D remake, the game just wasn't as fun as I remembered, and the slow-ass text (easily the worst part of the game) was simply maddening. Even the inverted aiming and playing the ocarina with the right stick of my 360 controller weren't as bad as that glacial text.

This reminds me, Beyond Good & Evil HD will be released pretty soon. I bought the game on Steam a few years ago but never finished it because I couldn't get over the lack of controller support and the weird forced aspect ratio (16:9-in-4:3 letterbox on a 16:10 screen -> nope). I guess there is no better time than now to replay it.

Admittedly, my last post was a troll post (I love dubs in general, but it's very easy - not to mention amusing to me - to rile up people who hate them), but no, she really doesn't have that great of a voice; at least, not as evidenced in Haruhi. I haven't heard her sing anywhere else.

Then again, in both Japan AND the US, very few popular artists actually are talented musically anyway, so it's probably a moot point; I quit listening to most popular music long ago as a result. It's ALL about image, and I don't think people even understand what good musicians are anymore. It's easy to sell a style, an image, or a philosophy, and people latch onto those rather strongly, regardless of the talent of the person presenting it.

For the record, I actually prefer the English version of Lost My Music (what little of it we get to hear, anyway).

I think it's going to be paid. Not that it really matters because I'm still getting student loans. Payment means I'll get less from the loans, so I'll have the same amount of money either way. Of course it also mean I'll have to pay back less, so getting a monthly paycheck for the internship would give me a slight advantage in the long run.

Make sure to get the BluRay if you can. It's a pretty movie, from an artistic standpoint. It's on AsianDVDClub, in case you didn't already know. Get the UK version for slightly better picture quality.

Eh, I just grabbed the first 720p rip I came across (7SinS), subs needed work but it looked fine. As for the movie itself? It was a pretty nice flick, glad I didn't turn it off when I thought it was going to drift towards the ol' "You don't understand our generation!" Japanese storytelling standby. The final line of the film was deliciously cruel.

I don't really consider myself a wota. I'm just a guy who primarily enjoys Japanese media, loves the Japanese language and just happens to have exceptionally excellent taste in Japanese girls (though I admit I was wrong about Aya). I think "weeaboo" is a much more appropriate term here. There is still hope for me, I can feel it.

On a completely random note; I haven't listened to Ayumi Hamasaki since her "&" release a hundred years ago, but this concert I watched this evening (Arena Tour 2009 3D) was pretty good. While a touch on the noisy side, it had excellent depth minus the lame CG overlays, and was quite vibrant... I'd comment on the setlist if that was one of the reasons I downloaded it, but Ayu and her music were secondary to new 3D content.

Worst news of the month, so far. I mean, I'm happy that she's gonna star in another drama but... not like this. I don't want to see my cute Acchan dressed as a boy or anywhere near those womanizing, waifu-stealing Johnny faggots. I don't think I'll be able to watch this show. It's a real shame because I loved watching her in Q10 and I know I'm gonna enjoy MoshiDora once the BluRay hits store shelves (probably not before December).

Oh well, at least Amazon notified me that I'm gonna get my LG Optimus One today. That should cheer me up a little bit. Now I can finally replace my 7-year old Motorola V525.

Man, this phone is neat. Having never used an Android phone before, I gotta say I'm very impressed by the OS itself and the sheer amount of apps on the marketplace. The integrated camera is nice, too. I'm finally able to take pictures bigger than 640x480.
Now I almost feel like I'm part of the modern world. Time to make accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LiveJournal.
