Both AGTH and ITH's default hooking work so poorly with d2b vs DD - Cross the Future, that I'm reading it without any aid. I'm only getting about half of what's going on, but it seems to be pretty good. It's probably going to be way too short, though since the VN's only 723 MB installed.

Just finished playing Shizuku (DVD version) for the first time. It was surprisingly short, but it was good. It managed to keep a nice atmosphere throughout.
I chose Mizuho, but I think I'll check out Redhair's route next, she seems a fun character.

I'm still working on last month's releases, but Monobeno, Okujou no Yurirei-san, &, and Dracu-riot. Not expecting much out of Otome ga Tsumugu, but might play it for the trap protag and seiyuu.

Also, for people who played both: how was Natsuyume Nagisa compared to Hatsuyuki? Does it have less of a problem with 描写不足? I'm curious, since I haven't read Natsunagi yet.

I liked Natsuyume better but Hatsuyuki is probably more solid. Also the last part of Natsuyume isn't for everyone and I can see people not accept the end.
Writing-wise I didn't have much problem with Natsuyume back when I read it, everything felt well fleshed out though it did have one particularly bad route (Tsukasa),in hindsight that route being what it is make sense though.

How are the Grisaia games connected to each other?

I read the first two routes (Makina and Amane) and I was completely destroyed by Amane route, especially the ending and the girl camp at Namek. I think I'm going to put the VN down for now and read Bishoujo Mangekyou and probably something else in my backlog to release some steam before getting back to Grisaia.
For when I get back to it, I'd like to know how necessary is it to read every route before moving to Meikyuu. Does it use or expect you to know a lot of information about all the routes or is it stand-alone continuation to the main route? Even if the other girl routes are completely or mostly stand-alone, are they worth reading even in the case I don't really care for the character(s) right now.

Only Amane and Makina, maybe Sachi too, are needed, but it's ncie to read them all to understand their personalities.

I feel like I should go to prison for playing something like this. I feel awful. Like, shit man. Still fapped like crazy.

Kidnap classmate, put her in cell, chain her to the floor, feed her nothing but dogfood, and have her raped by dogs all day for weeks. When she begs him to not make her fuck dogs anymore he moves her to a barn and has her raped by pigs, when she complains that fucking pigs anymore will kill her he has her raped by a pony, complain about the pony he gives her a horse, complain about the horse and she gets raped by a field full of donkeys while a group of men watch.

Holy shit, in 3 of the 4 endings she ends up insane.

What's especially creepy is the approach the protagonist uses. "What? You're on your period and so you don't want to fuck a dog? Well, I'm so nice, I'll let you give it a blowjob instead." It's exactly the same technique that interrogators use to break people - they give them choices and the perception of voluntary cooperation, so that when they break, they think they do it of their own free will.

Look nice so far and I like that company, though to be honest a few months ago I only knew them due to Otoboku but since I read Meguri Hitohira and Alicematic and they were both pretty great and different to what you'd expect seeing that artstyle.

I'm trying to play Steins;Gate but I can't get it to work. I'm using the auto-update/translate file from vn-meido (first mistake?) and the game starts up fine but I can't get past the spinning time machine. It just spins. Every now and then the title movie plays. I've pressed every key on my keyboard, including "f" which toggles fullscreen, and clicked like a motherfucker.
tl;dr: what do I have to do to get past the spinning time machine and start the game?

I guess I must be the 20%, as I have never actually installed applocale to play any of my geimu. A couple years ago I switched all the settings in XP's "Regional Options" to Japanese and never looked back. It displays the \ in directory trees as a yen sign and some programs display error messages in Japanese but beyond that I've hardly noticed.

Any good newer (last 2 years) yuri or futanari VNs? I've played the hanabira series, Limit Panic!, Angel's Milk Tank, The Futanari Princess and the Servant Girl, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting.

Japanese is, of course, fine (and preferred, actually). Doesn't necessarily have to be an eroge either. Limit Panic! wasn't and it was a lot of fun.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what I should read for my first Japanese VN playthrough?
Everything I've tried to read lately I've been dropping because it doesn't interest me, or the Japanese is too difficult.
I was thinking of reading Higurashi (Tsumihoroboshi-hen) since I've read it translated before.

Is it just me or is the writing much better? Weird considering they are from the same writer, but I don't see the flaws in the writing like I did with Hatsuyuki.
The plot seems interesting so far, the characters are nice too especially Hitsuji.

After having installed Win8 a few days ago, I installed the VN in question, and I'm getting an error. I'm not asking for troubleshooting, I just want to know if this is a Win8 thing, before installing XP for dualbooting.

Finished one route in Shamana Shamana, it wasn't too bad but nothing I would really call memorable, it's an average fantasy title with a good protagonist.

Looks like it doesn't have some of the flaws of Shamana Shamana (endless slice of life scenes, if it takes place in a fantasy world why the fuck does it still take place in a school)

But for now I'm back to Himawari no Chapel de Kimi to, it's a great game.

What moege or comedyge would you like to see get an 'Alternative' version, like MuvLuv's Unlimited and Alt?
I don't mean necessarily a mecha universe, but just a world filled peril, like a magic fantasy world ravaged by dragons or the undead, or a post-nuclear apocalypse setting with mutants and shit.
You know, something to contrast the fluffiness of the original.

That's not what MLU is. It's not a deconstruction, it's pretty much a standard 'humanity against the odds' mecha world played perfectly straight. It's not really comparable to something like Puella Magica which messes with the assumptions of its supposed genre.

Playing through Koiiro Soramoyou and enjoying it quite a bit. I heard it was long, I think I'm on Chapter 8 and there hasn't been a single choice yet. No problem though, just all the more to enjoy reading.

Too bad there is no Yuuki route though. I love how she is honest, straightforward and disciplined while still keeping an air of femininity. She was so cute in this scene.

Just finished Nenene's route in HimaChaki, she is the true older sister of the protagonist so it's the incest route.
Another great route, damn if this game had voice it would be the perfect moege.
Awesome humor, great heroines, interesting setting with a bit of chuuni, lots of romance and progression (marriage pretty early in every routes, even pregnancy and birth in some routes).
