Nah fuck it. Last time was basically as soon as you conquered all the land around you, there was nothing to do but farm castles.
Also you needed to go to facebook to get good lords, and that was buggy as well so it didn't always work.
Upgrading the clans to house all of /jp/ was a pain, too. We ended up split up between 2-3 clans in our faction.

Tile capturing bullshit "gameplay" that could potentially eat up 80% of your free time clicking madly and waiting for page loads, so unbelievably terrible.

Reinforcement mechanics that break if you send units to a tile and it changes hands in the 8 hours of walk time. Oh no, someone else owns the tile now, we couldn't possible attack the tile, time to pack up and head home guys.

Castle strength and auto-repairing that is so strong that it's even difficult to destroy a player that has been absent for an entire week.

At least it has cute girls, but so does pixiv/danbooru/actual Koihime games.

Anywhere it mentions zeni is when you'd have to spend coins. Warlords are most important, especially early on during the land-grab.

It costs 100 zeni to make a new base, not an amount you need to worry about.

Put points into attack, spend most of your resources on resource upgrades, with timber and clay > iron > crops, and spend most of the resources you have left on getting a level 5 command center and on leveling your storage. Best way to earn easy achievement points in several easy steps.

1. Make sure to spawn somewhere with a lot of emperor land
2. Join a clan
3. Ask clanmates to make request attack missions on emperor land around you
4. Send sole warlords at those tiles. Even if you don't win (you won't), you still get 85 achievement points if you attack it with the mission accepted.
5. Renew the mission, and attack with another warlord.

Use this as well as sending lots of grain to requestors and you will shoot up the rankings. I got into the top 10 by doing that last night (though I'm back in 27th place now).

If you just want to take territory, regular spearmen work fine.

If you want to attack mini-castles, take a shit load of spearmen/halberds and some archers. You also need to send at least 2 warlords.

I never bothered going after player bases, but I think you'd need engineers, rams, and some other stuff.

If you're swimming in resources, you can build one to make your base look prettier. Otherwise, 2%(the starting value) of the average 1.5k lumber income you need to make it is.... 30. vs the upgrade from 10 to 11 in lumber which gives.... 300.

I imagine they might be a bit more worth it when you have 3000 territory giving you lumber aswell, but I doubt the beta will get that far.

If you're ballsy: Save up 50 flags and plop it right onto the front of the enemies frontlines.

The main thing you want with your second base is a point to drop off your warlords and lots of lush fertile unclaimed ground for you win battles on, since you've likely exhausted everything near your original base.
