I've had friends that were girls, they were shitty friends. They just talk about the dumbest shit and how much they're just "one of the guys!". It gets worse if you have those girls that keep saying they're lesbian or bi, because they're trying to be cool with the whole emo scene style.
There are also those girls that just become your friend to eventually date you, and get destroyed when you friendzone them. They're the ones that will ask for a sip of your drink, or be really touchy and say stuff like "I wish I had a boyfriend~". But then you deny them the sip of your drink or tell them not to touch you, so one of their friends talks to you in a really bitchy way, telling you she's crying behind the bleachers and calling you a jerk.

Girls are just really dramatic compared to guys. You could get in a fist fight with your friend, and be just fine the next day. If you so much as say the wrong thing in front of a girl, prepare for a lifetime grudge.
That's how it was for me in highschool anyways, I haven't talked to anyone really since then.

Twice I've made friends with girls in online games and twice they suddenly vanished one day, making every effort to be untraceable. I don't know about you and that one of the guys business but I grew up with a few girls who were really tomboyish and it was because of them that I got into things like basketball and track. When we were kids they would always force me to go do things with them, riding bikes at the BMX track, and other boyish things like that. But the point is that there's a prior, quite more important condition: We don't have $300.000 to spare.
It's the same with this "It'd be hard to find a female friend". Yes, it'd be harder than finding a male friend because less females share etc.
But BEFORE thinking about gender, you have to consider that it'd be much harder even finding a decent person that knows how to take it easy.

That's a damn good question for I have no clue.
I stay to myself and have essentially no friends except my roommate who is more of a good acquaintance.

The only time I really leave my apartment is to go to classes. For some reason I have girls come up and ask if they can look at my notes and add me on facebook. Or study together or something. Which is weird because I suck at school and never study. I just scrape by with C's and handing in everything late. At least with C's I don't have to go back home. When I am in class I usually browse 4chan and /jp/ on my phone, which is the only thing I use my phone for. So my notes are essentially nonexistent.

The only other time I leave is to get food. Since I can't afford my own food besides rice, I steal from school events and parties I sneak into. Usually I go in, eat my fill and take leftovers or food from pantries, and then quickly leave. But sometimes there is always that one girl that will try to talk to you. The worst part is when I honestly say I am only here for the food, they think it's funny and try to talk more.
