Have we given up /jp/?

Where's the elitism that we used to have?

I feel like we are being overrun by immigrants and no one bothers to fight back anymore.

No fuck you with your silent reports, if people keep doing that none of the new people will know what is /jp/ and what isn't

And nobody will know what to report and what not, turning the next generation /jp/ into some kind of retard anarchy board

You are exactly the kind of scum that helped in the decay of this place.

Crossposter here, "ironic shitposting" became /jp/'s trademark just like memes with /b/.

Also these people are drawing attention to your board:

Acting like /jp/ is the new hotness.

You are right in a way, but while explaining things properly to them (rather than shitposting yourself) would be the best response, it is an irrealistic idea that would never work.
"ironic shitposting" has become so popular that it makes up 90% of all the shitposting.

I don't like ironic shitposting either because it makes acting like a retard seem okay when it in fact isn't

Just tell people to fuck off and be otherwise hostile in your posts to them without getting on a worse level than they are in an attempt to be "ironic"
This only leads to idiots believing that they are in good company

You can still be hostile and elitist without resorting to below-youtube level quality posts

I think I missed half my point.
"ironic shitposting" is bad, but it's not the only kind of response to normal shitposting.
I've seen entire (promising) threads destroyed by non-ironic, very angry anons who wanted to drive newfags and morons away, and I am certain you have seen similar.
I reccomend that if you really feel the need to respond, limit yourself to 1 post, a single declaration why the guy is on the wrong board, but remember that other anons might feel the same need and 20 such posts one after another can easily kill the thread.
Sure, it's often the OP who shouldn't even be here. There is nothing lost if you turn HIS thread into shit, right?
Except that for as long as you keep responding, you are also keeping the thread alive and on the first page, by giving him oppportunity to answer to you.

I sage in over 90% of my posts. That's a conservative estimate too. I tell people when things aren't fit for /jp/ and when they are. I report and hide when necessary.

I haven't even been here for the whole 4 years of /jp/, I only stopped visiting other boards a couple months ago too.

Nobody lurks before posting nowadays, or they think because they lurked one board they can post in an entirely unrelated board because "it's all just 4chan after all XD".

I miss when 4chan was my secret club. I miss when memes were considered cool inside jokes. I miss a lot of things. Sometimes I even miss old /b/. But we can't have any of those back and we never will. You can hate it all you want, but that's the cycle of mainstream popularity.

Maybe one day when everyone gets bored of 4chan it can return to it's old self. But by then I'm sure we'll all be gone. With that said, I still do things the old way, maybe because I have a sliver of hope I can make things better, or maybe because it's just habit, who knows.

Keep doing what you do OP, I'm right there with you. One day we will take it easy again.

You can keep the edgyness to yourself.

>> No.9341557

>>9341466
Yes I'm aware of that of course,
Single post replies that say you are not welcome here, were common back then

This actually made the original shitposter upset and made them feel worse obviously, that way he will probably leave the board soon. If he keeps arguing with someone it might just take longer for him to leave but he will still know he's not accepted here, and leave in the end.
With this method, even if anyone still decides to stay longer on /jp/ because of the elitism aspect, then at least those people would carry over the elitism and contribute some to the self-regulation of /jp/.

Instead we now have ironic shitposting which tells them they are not welcome here, but in an ironic retarded way, which lots of those kids find actually hilarious.
This only leads to even more offboarders staying here, but for the shitpost aspect which in turn makes this place horrible and the "ironic" aspect is already disintegrating into the real thing.

>>9341476
It's true that this is a cycle which has been reported very often,
I'm just very sad to see that /jp/, which had such a great promise in the earlier years due to it's elitism, is taking the same path now.

>>9341546
This has nothing to do with being edgy, it's only to give them the feeling they are not welcome here, you can still phrase your posts in a way that doesn't sound edgy.

Why do people hate other boards? (besides /b/, don't need to explain that one).

I browse around 6-7 boards almost equally but I still don't understand why /jp/ hates /a/ for example.

>> No.9341610

>>9341597
/v/, /b/, and /a/ are all cancer filters

Way back it used to be just /b/, but since then a lot of people who were on /b/ got bored and asked themselves "I wonder what else 4chan has to offer". Video games and anime are the two largest interests of that group.

But I honestly don't see them (barring /b/) as cancer filters. Even the smaller boards I browse like /ck/ are sometimes bad to look at but I wouldn't put them in the 'cancer filter' category.

I have but it feels like it's just a few people shitposting in every thread instead of the board itself. I've played with some of them in a couple games and they don't seem too bad.
Though, I do see it more frequently so I'm probably wrong.

Yeah. I mean, ok. I am truNEET but I am not as sensitive about "normalfags" as /a/. Sometimes I think they are actually "normalfags" that are angry about other "normalfags" because there's no way that a NEET or a hikki can get so easily pissed off by someone blogging about his life or not liking moe.

I think one of the main differences between /a/ and /jp/ is that /a/ is more focused. Anime & manga is a clear-cut definition and it's easy to see what's outside of that. Therefore, /a/ has less off-topic stuff and dislikes it more, while /jp/ has more of it.
Also, I have a feeling that people from /a/ are more willing to visit other boards than people from /jp/ are, so they also have a higher expectation of their people to leave off-topic stuff elsewhere.Just a feeling though.

I don't post on /a/ or /v/. It's /jp/, /ck/, and /p/ for me. Surprisingly, there's less greentext bullshit on those boards and spoilers aren't enabled. However, I do still like to insult people on /ck/ when they make a post that tries to use spoilers. Some people just pick up bad habits from other boards that seem to follow them everywhere, even off of 4chan.
