E-excuse me, /jp, b-b-but could you... enlighten me on modern Japanese cinema?

Pretty much the only Japanese movies I've watched are Seven Samurai, Battle Royale, The Audition (I liked this very much) and Howls Moving Castle (which was also amazingu!~~). I feel like such a plebian having only seen these.

Can u help me pls?

Why are you watching movies when there are superior forms of entertainment out there? Films are so passive; all you do is just sit back as something is TOLD to you, whereas games actually have some form of player interaction included in the narrative.

Being involved in the unfolding of the story makes beating a video game actually feel like an accomplishment. On the other hand, when you're finished watching a film, what have you gained? Nothing-- you've just lost two hours of your time with nothing to show for it.

No, actually, there really aren't. Not in a way that actually matter (i.e., mentally). If you want mental and spiritual growth--as in actually becoming a mature, well-rounded adult--then you watch films.

If you haven't seen and critiqued at least 500 films by your 25th birthday, your life has been a complete waste.

Hahaha.
That would mean all those crappy blockbuster reviewers on the internet are actually cultural and intelectual paragons.

Good one.
