Hey /jp/,
I don't usually browse here at all, but I couldn't find an immediately relevant board to make my request on, and /jp/ will likely be the most helpful.
Anyway, my request is simple, what is the best way to go about learning to read and speak Japanese for free, from home?

>> No.9836631

Thats alright, no one currently posting actually frequents the board, just look at the other high quality threads! Anyways, I'd check out the archive, we get these posts quite a bit so you can probably find some good stuff in one of the past threads. Maybe check out the kanji learning threads that we have up every once and awhile too.

Earlier I thought of a very witty response to these threads, but I forgot it.

Serious answer:
http://guidetojapanese.org/
http://ankisrs.net/ (this is for kanji)

There is no magical way to learn Japanese through playing games or watching anime, though it will help. Spaced repetition and mnemonics are the most effective methods of learning. If you can't learn from these websites, you can't learn at all.

Maybe he's using the epic stealth sage technique that is now listed on the FAQ.

But that's for bakas because I can bump it, like this, crushing his Japanese spirit.
