The paying thing honestly doesn't bother me. There was some subscription-only forum going way back to the early 90s that did the same thing (I forget what it's called) but it ended up with a reputation for quality.

It's a good idea to keep (most) kids out. The problem is that now the site is so popular, a paywall isn't effective any more.
