You can't escape from that otomate drama cycle unfortunately, but I can say that it was a bit improved. There was a reason for all that shit going on at least. Good thing is, that if you want to play only his route you can do it from the very start without wasting your time on the other characters. If you go knowing not to expect a lot, you might like it more than you thought you will, but if you expect a lot, no I don't recommend it.

I finished a first run of Jack Jeanne/Mitsuki's route.
Man I wasn't expecting the plays to be so good. Once the first one started I was expecting to skip through the text but seeing all the pieces come together, the parts of the story the writing hid from you up to then, all the new assets for every play and the characters acting parts they were struggling with before hooks you in. A lot of the songs were great too.
Loved Mitsuki. Seeing him go from being self-interested and detached to warming up to everyone and getting stressed on behalf of others made me feel some things. Was good that it's not only to MC but the rest of the class too while his relationship with her still felt special. Wish there were more fun times with him though the route was gloomy and yeah, wow, nearly no romance.
I see some of the problems anon was talking about but most of it didn't bother me. When the gameplay starts getting annoying I'll take a break since this doesn't feel like the type of story you need to play all the routes of to enjoy/understand.

The plays really are fun. What was your favorite? I loved Mary Jane.
Yeah Mitsuki did get kind of shafted. A lot of the big problems that come up in his route are non-issues in other routes and he doesn't exactly resolve or come to peace with his family problems unlike some of the other guys. Agree he is a super good boy though and you just grow to appreciate him more as you do the other routes. The difference in how some of the guys treat Kisa after finding out was a bit sad so Mitsuki finding out in the common route and continuing to just not give a shit the whole rest of the game was very appreciated.

Even when it's used, it often has some interesting twist that makes it unique. Shingakkou is set in a religious boarding school, Masquerade just uses the empty school with a couple of students and teachers in a hostage situation etc
The only pure high school BL VN I can think of is Gakuen Heaven, which I've never played anyway.

It's like the only BL VN with anything resembling gameplay anyway (alongside animamundi's timed quizzes I guess) so it's a pretty unique gimmick for the genre.

I liked this route, but it felt very much like "Laurence magically fixes the plot". I liked they finally addressed the Elizabeth stuff, but the stuff with Laurence is pure wish fulfillment even if he's an extremely good boy and the eager sex was very hot (I picked top at first, the bottom option was super meh this time around on other hand) I'm a vanillafag but I still like Oscar's route the best since it addresses Alex shit more directly and it's more deeply connected to the plot, I like the childhood friends angle to the relationship and it has a good amount of drama and messed up sex but with a hopeful tone and I liked the ending doesn't magically fixes Alex.

This route had potential, but the story being so limited really hurt the game It mostly plays into the same scenarios as the other routes. It was fun seeing Theodore totally overpowering Alex, Alex going full villain, getting fucked by Theodore every night It's a nice story on paper, but in practice it doesn't feel like it really delivers. I liked the endings are totally dark, either Theodore goes insane and fucks you over or Alex mindbrokes him into being his dog.

Overall it's a nice game, but the lack of budget and a true route so to speak totally hurts the game. I grew bored of the story very soon and once you are done with the first two routes you are doing similar routes that largely don't add much. Probably could have cut the Doctor route which I thought was just kinda shitty and didn't add much. Overall enjoyable if you are starved for BL games but you can do like Oscar/Laurence/Jeremy and maybe Theodore's routes and get most of the story just fine.

It's depressing how it was the only decent part of the game, but it was actually pretty good and Tachibana and his chemistry with Kazuki was actually well done, especially the martial art scenes and all.
I wish the rest of the game was at least half as entertaining as this route, because it's so dull otherwise.
Hell, Tachibana's first route is also way better than his second ending so basically just reading the common route and that makes for a far better experience than the shitfest that are the other three routes.

I'm talking about Dogra Magra, if you watched or read it you'd understand what Hashihime was going for in the final route. Which didn't land just like she didn't land Hanzawa and Hikawa's routes. She wanted the player to question reality, such Tamamori's ability to modify his own appearance, his blue eyes and the Shopkeepre's words as well Kaoru's old age but she didn't land the writing.
It's just a shit "it was all a dream" ending that has nothing interest to say because 90% of the story is in the routes.

At first I also thought that Hashihimes last ending was indeed the true one and Tamamori was delusional and a schizo who fucked tulpas. And that Kurosawa sensei tried to cover everything up last minute at her blog, after nips going reeee and shitting at her QAs.

But what makes you realize that time travel did happen is the way tamamoris friends died. They were all found hanged in a cave. And by chance only tamamori was spared. It was not an accident like they drowned or fell and hit their heads, that could justify an unfortunate event. It was the shopkeeper who time traveled at that time and killed them or had kaoru do it. He chose to kill them when they were young and vulnerable. He used rain water Minakamis dad kept from that time inside the basement. Young Tamamori probably witnessed all of this and was traumatized beyond repair and in order to escape his trauma, memories and loneliness, he started imagining things like his friends being alive and all growing up together. He was delusional to begin with but not at that extent.
All these memories transferred to time travel kaorus route Tamamori, making him believe that everything was in his imagination after all and that his friends died young and no time travel ever happened .

The true route is more like the shopkeeper winning. He killed all his enemies, and made sure his self got inspired, writing a work that was his and not a yumeno copypasta. And that was book of hashihime -tamamoris time travel experiences.
Kaorus route Tamamori had already given up, so it was kinda redemptive knowing that his friends never existed, no need to save anyone. Shopkeeper made sure to take advantage of that Tamamori. .
Or at least that's how I see it.

- The 4 friends were found hanging in a rainy day. This alone makes very little sense and is unexplained
- The weird timeskip at one point, with Tamamori waking up as a 20 something then the story time skips at 30 something Tamamori
- Yumeno's career still being anachronistic and him having his identity stolen still
- The weird gap in Kaoru's age
- The fact Tamamori still acts like the shopkeeper was a real person in the ending scene
- Tamamori having blue eyes
- Really weird details like the story largely being about WW2 when it still has to happen timeline wise in the last route.
- The post game stuff being contradictory with the nature of the last route

I suspect she also meant to make you question Kaoru's nature, he doesn't appear to age, he possessed weird supernatural powers and no one sees him. He can also seem to be able to see Tamamori's illusions. But it didn't quite land, so she had Tamamori wonder in the extra story if Kaoru is really real.
